    Notizen: Abstract An efficient hybrid field solution to the general multilayer substrates transmission line problems with full shielded and half open cross-sectional geometry is presented by using the waveguide modes coupling and decoupling procedure in the spectral domain. Modal transverse transmission lines corresponding to the LSE and LSM modes are taken into account so that the “Green's elements” for the edge conditions can be derived by a simple iterative method. In this paper, we analyze not only the propagation constants and characteristic impedances but also the available transmission power capacity and power distribution of most commonly used structures. Normalized eigenmode power levels characterizing the propagation features are computed.

    Notizen: This paper presents an overview of the 3D transmission-line matrix method of analysis, describing the various nodes which are available to date: expanded node, asymmetrical condensed node, symmetrical condensed node. The most general scattering matrices of these nodes are given. The various techniques used to implement irregularly graded meshes are also described. A comparison of all the processes applied to the same structure is made. Conclusions on their use are then discussed.

The instability in different ABCs is discussed and reflections from the terminating walls are computed. An improvement for the matched termination wall is proposed and reflection of this absorbing condition is compared with ordinary matched termination. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
