    Notizen: Abstract Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes ofo-hydroxyacetophenone Girard-P hydrazone were prepared by using the organic ligand and the corresponding transition metal chlorides. The protonation and formation constants were evaluated for the organic ligando-hydroxyacetophe-none Girard-P hydrazone and its transition metal complexes, respectively. The thermal behaviour of the test materials was established by means of DTA. Their semiconducting parameters were evaluated through DC-conductivity measurements, and their thermodynamic parameters were evaluated, assigned and interpreted. The mechanism of thermal dehydrochlorination of the metal chloride complexes was proposed.

    Notizen: Abstract A constant composition method has been used for the study of the kinetics of calcium carbonate (calcite) dissolution in which the activities of ionic species in relatively undersaturated solutions are maintained constant. Over a range of relative undersaturation (0.032–0.158) the dissolution reaction appears to be controlled by a bulk diffusion process. The suggestion of a predominantly diffusion-controlled process was supported by the observed low activation energy (2.09 kcal mol−1). The influence of a number of metal ions on the reaction rate has been investigated. The retardation effect of these additives has been attributed to the blocking of active sites by adsorption of metal ions at the crystal surfaces. Inhibition of dissolution by metal ions can be interpreted in terms of a Langmuir isotherm.

    Notizen: Abstract Gallium iron garnet and its Al3+-substituted derivatives have been prepared and sintered under oxygen pressure. On these materials, measurements were taken of infrared spectra, X-ray diffraction analysis, differential thermal analysis and the temperature dependence of d.c. electrical conductivity. The results obtained are explained, interpreted, compared and discussed in detail on the basis of structural conformation and the conduction mechanism prevailing.

Kondensation einiger aromatischer Aldehyde mit Diethyl-β,β-dimethylglutaratKondensation von Benzaldehyd und p-Anisaldehyd mit Diethyl-β,β-dimethylglutarat in Gegenwart von Natriumhydrid ergibt die kristallinen (Z)-Halbester (1a und b) und ölige Halbesterfraktionen, die die E-Isomeren 2a und b enthalten.Im Falle von p-Chlorbenzaldehyd werden die (Z)- und (E)-Halbester (1c und 2c) in reiner kristalliner Form erhalten. Die Konfiguration wurde durch Cyclisierung der entsprechenden Anhydride 3 zu den Oxoindenylcarbonsäuren 5 bestimmt.

Während die (E)-Halbester 1 zu den entsprechenden 1-Acetoxy-3-nahpthoesäureestern 5 cyclisiert werden konnten, ergaben die (Z)-Halbester 2 unter den gleichen Bedingungen die entsprechenden 3-Oxo-inden-2-(α-subst.)-essigsäuren 7.Das Isomerenverhältnis wird mit sterischen Wechselwirkungen in den γ-Lacton-Zwischenprodukten 8 erklärt.

    Notizen: p-Methyl-, p-methoxy-, and p-chlorobenzophenone condense with dimethyl homophthalate in the presence of sodium hydride to give the expected stereoisomeric half-esters 1 and 2. The (z)-configuration 2 was favoured in the two former ketones, whereas the (E)-configuration 1 prevailed in the latter. Configuration was determined by cyclisation of the derived dibasic acids 3 and 4 to the oxo-indenyl acids 7 and 8, also obtained by the action of aluminium chloride on the anhydrides 5 and 6. Cyclisation of the half-esters gave the indenyl esters 9 and 10. Structures are supported by i.r., u. v., and n. m. r. spectroscopic evidence. The ratio of isomers is interpreted in terms of the relative ease of ring cleavage of the intermediate δ-lactones 11 and 12.
