    Description / Table of Contents: Die Polykondensation von Benzaldehyd (B) and Pyrogallol (P) wurde bei 60, 75 und 95°C und mit Molverhältnissen B/P von 1,5 und 3,0 in Gegenwart von Phosphorsäure als Katalysator durchgeführt. Die Reaktion folgt einem Geschwindigkeitsgesetz 2. Ordnung. Geschwindigkeitskonstanten, Aktivierungsenergien und logA-Werte wurden durch gaschromatoraphische Bestimmung des Verbrauchs der Reaktanden ermittelt. Die Aktivierungsenergien liegen bei 62,3 kJ mol-1 (B/P 1,5) bzw. 56,4 kJ mol-1 (B/P 3,0). Die Grenzviskositäten (25°C, THF) der Harze liegen für Herstellungstemperaturen zwischen 60 und 100°C im Bereich von 0,03 bis 0,07 dL g-1.
    Notes: Novolac-type polycondensation of benzaldehyde (B) and pyrogallol (P) has been carried out at 60°C, 75°C and 90°C and at B/P mole ratios of 1.5 and 3.0 using phosphoric acid as catalyst. The reaction follows a 2nd order rate law. By using GC consumption data of benzaldehyde and pyrogallol, kinetic parameters such as the overall rate constants, activation energies (Ea) and logA values are investigated. The activation energies for 1.5 and 3.0 B/P mole ratios are found as 62.3 kJ mol-1 and 56.4 kJ mol-1, respectively. The molecular weights of the resins determined by measuring intrinsic viscosities (25°C, THF) are in the range of 0.03 to 0.07 dL g-1 at various temperatures and B/P mole ratios.

    Notes: Propylene is polymerized in a slurry over a TiCl3 · ⅓AlCl3 catalyst with a DEAC cocatalyst, approaching conditions of industrial relevance. The effects of various parameters such as temperature, pressure, cocatalyst-to-catalyst ratio, hydrogen concentration, and polymerization time are investigated with particular emphasis on the yield, tacticity, molecular weight, bulk density, and particle size of the resulting polymer. The highest yield and isotactic content are obtained at an Al/Ti ratio of 6, temperature of 70°C, and pressure of 9 kg/cm2g. The polymerization rate is found to be first order up to a monomer concentration of 2.5 mol/L. The overall activation energy of polymerization calculated from an Arrhenius plot is found to be 11.6 kcal/mol. A correlation between MFI and molecular weight is also presented. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
