Tetrakis(trimethylsiloxy)phosphonium Salts and Related CompoundsAddition reactions of trimethylhalosilanes (CH3)3SiX with tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphate lead to the formation of stable tetrakis(trimethylsiloxy)phosphonium iodide (3) in the case of X = J. With X = Br the analogous product can be obtained only at lower temperatures. The reaction equilibria (eq. (1)) have been followed by conductivity and n.m.r. measurements. A second route yielding 3 quantitatively has been found in the reaction of trimethyl phosphate with the tetramolar amount of trimethyliodosilare (eq. (2)). - Treatment of the trimethylsilyl esters of methylphosphonic and dimethylphosphinic acid with trimethyliodosilane yielded the corresponding adducts.
Notes:
