Summary 1. The dielectric constant of lithium greases (high-frequency region 0.6 MHz) has been studied in relation to the dispersion-medium composition and the content of additives and fillers in the grease. It has been shown that the dielectric constant of grease depends primarily on the polarity of the dispersion medium. 2. Additives (LZ-318, USI, DPA, Khloref 40), depending on the additive type and concentration and on the composition of the dispersion medium, will influence to a greater or lesser degree the strength and dielectric properties of lithium greases. Fillers (mica, graphite, and MoS2) have only a very slight influence on the structure and strength of greases. The degree of increase in dielectric constant of the grease when fillers are added is determined by the polarity of the filler. 3. When lithium greases are heated (20–220°C), a sharp increase is observed in the dielectric constant at the transition of the grease to a liquid-crystal state (180–200°C). The introduction of additives into the grease produces a decrease in this temperature of abrupt change in dielectric constant.
