Conclusions 1. It was established, on the basis of experimental data, that metallic thorium interacts with its ions in a KCl melt, according to reaction (1); the temperature dependence of the equilibrium constant was found for this reaction. 2. The temperature relationships of the values of the apparent standard electrode potentials of Th/Th(IV) and Th/Th(II) were determined. 3. The change of Gibbs energy of reaction (1) was estimated for a mixture of liquid thorium tetrachloride in a potassium chloride melt.
