Abstract The mass transfer kinetics and alloying elements distribution in a coating layer on the titanium alloy VT6 were investigated, as well as the properties of the layer after electrospark alloying with tungsten free electrodes based on the refractory compounds of titanium and zirconium nitride. !t was shown that the microhardness of the alloyed layer is 3-S times, and of the heat affected zone 1.5-2.0 times greater than that of the initial material. The resistance of the coated samples to high-temperature oxidation was also substantially higher.
