Résumé Le 20 avril 1983, dans le contexte de l'analyse des structures du système sanitaire de Bâle, un census d'un jour a été réalisé, comprenant 2920 personnes dans des services de soins aigus, dans les services de gériatrie et de psychiatrie. Selon le jugement des chefs de clinique, 20% des hospitalisés étaient mal placés. Dans la plupart des cas il s'agissait d'une surmédicalisation, surtout des personnes âgées de 60 ans et plus. Celles-ci auraient été aussi bien placées dans des homes médicalisés.
Abstract:
Summary For the purposes of an analysis of the hospital capacities of the canton of Basel-Stadt, a one-day census was conducted on April 20, 1983. On that day, the physicians in charge identified every fifth patient out of 2920 hospitalized patients as misplaced. “Misplaced” means that, from a medical point of view, mostly elderly patients could be treated and cared for as well (and cheaper) in other institutions (e.g., nursing homes) or in community settings if adequate home care services were available.

Zusammenfassung Der im Zusammenhang mit der Strukturanalyse des Basler Gesundheitswesens in den Basler Akut-, Geriatrie- und Psychiatriespitälern durchgeführte Tageszensus vom 20. April 1983 erfasste insgesamt 2920 Patienten. Von diesen war gemäss Beurteilung durch die zuständigen Oberärzte insgesamt jeder Fünfte fehlplaziert. In praktisch sämtlichen Fällen handelte es sich um eine medizinische Überversorgung meist über 60 Jahre alter Personen. Diese wären in einem Pflegeheim meist ebensogut versorgt.
