Notes:
A 1,23% alkaloid content was found in fresh Ammocharis coranica (Ker.-Gawl.) Herb. emend. M.-Redh. (Amaryllidacee) bulbs. Of this, 14,2% consisted of phenolic bases. Eleven alkaloids have been isolated from the non-phenolic bases. Four of these (lycorine, crinamine, coranine and acetylcaranine) had already been obtained from this drug, whilst five other known alkaloids (6-hydroxycrinamine, (+)-epicrinine, buphanisine, buphanidrine and ambelline) have been isolated for the first time from A. coranica. In addition, small amounts of two new alkaloids ((+)-epi-buphanisine and coranicine) have been found.
