Notes: Summary The antidepressant activity of monoamine oxidase inhibitors has been well established for 30 years. Nevertheless, this group of compounds was handled with great care, mainly because of the interaction potential with tyramine-containing foodstuff. With the discovery of reversible and selective inhibitors of monoamine oxidase type A a renaissance of these compounds has begun. In this paper one of these new substances — brofaromine — will be described in detail. Biochemical and pharmacological aspects will be reviewed, showing that brofaromine is a selective and reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase type A with additional serotonin reuptake inhibiting properties. Both mechanisms of action may synergize in the antidepressant effect of the compound. The main results of clinical trials in depression and other indication areas will also be covered. Special attention will be put on the side effect profile.

Notes: Abstract Based on field observations and a survey of the available literature, the functional and evolutionary significance of floral characters ofPelargonium is investigated in relation to a recent infrageneric re-classification. Most of the 208Pelargonium taxa (recognized as species, subspecies or varieties) involved show bee and long-proboscid hovering fly pollination syndromes (about 60% and 25%, respectively), only 7% of the taxa are pollinated by butterflies, some 2 to 4% by hawkmoths and presumably 1% by birds. The heterogeneity ofPelargonium in terms of structural blossom types and pollination syndromes indicates an independent and repeated evolution of convergent flower morphs in the genus and even in sections.

Description / Table of Contents: Single Crystal X-Ray Analysis of Sr3TiGa10O20Single crystals of Sr3TiGa10O20 were prepared by recrystallisation of a molten oxide mixture and investigated by X-Ray technique. It crystallizes with monoclinic symmetry, space group C2h3-C2/m, a = 15.451, b = 11.579, c = 5.051 Å, β = 108.57°, Z = 2. Sr3TiGa10O20 belongs to the Pb3GeAl10O20 type, showing Ga3+ in tetrahedral and octahedral coordination. The octahedral coordinated point positions are occupied by Ga3+ and Ti4+ statistically.
