Notes: Summary The information submitted makes it possible to speak of the participation of immunological reactions in the pathogenesis of amyloidosis, which, in all probability, come about by a mechanism of auto-aggression. Furthermore, two stages may be distinguished in the development of amyloidosis: First stage, the formation of auto-antigens and of corresponding auto-antibodies, this appearing as a result of a deranged protein-synthetizing function of the reticulo-endothelium. Second stage, association of auto-antigens with auto-antibodies followed by the formation of specific complexes and their fixation in tissues in the form of an amyloid substance.
