In this paper, antibacterial agent of silver-carrying nano-hydroxyapatite is synthesized by anion exchange reaction, which is mixed thoroughly with a commercial glaze for antibacterial ceramics.The valence states of Ag in antibacterial agent are confirmed to be +1 and 0 by XPS. Antibacterial effectagainst bacterium of E. coli is also tested. Experimental results indicate that the antibacterial ceramicsexhibit excellent antibacterial performances, with bactericidal rate of 99.92%
