Notes: Summary A consistent application of thermodynamics of irreversible processes is presented for Isotropic materials with memory undergoing finite deformations. Explicit expressions for the functional relation between the momentary stresses and temperature and the deformation and internal energy time histories are derived for the special case of internal processes which can be described by even internal scalar variables. The treatment provides a special model for finite and infinitesimal linear viscoelasticity and is compared with existing theories.
