Notes:
The polar lipids of the halophilic archaebacterium Halobacterium saccharovorum have been analyzed by spectroscopic methods, including 13C NMR to establish structural detail. C20, C20 diether forms of phosphatidyl glycerol (PG), phosphatidyl glycerol phosphate (PGP) and phosphatidyl glycerol sulphate (PGS) are the major polar lipids, together with the sulphated diglycosyl diether, 2,3-di-O-phytanyl-1-O-[mannopyrsanosyl-(6-sulphate)-α-d-1 → 2-glucopyranosyl-α-d]-sn-glycerol (SDGD-1) characteristics of members of the genus Haloferax.
