Conclusions Capillary diameter, shear stress, and jet stretch all affect the phenomenon of specific fibre formation in extrudates of the mixtures POM-copolyamide 548, POM-polystyrene, POM-ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, POM-polyvinyl alcohol, and low-pressure polyethylene-copolyamide 548. The optimum regimes found for deformation of mixture melts have been used in the development of technology for preparing ultrathin synthetic fibres and precision filters based on them.
