Abstract:
Notes:
Summary The separation of steroids as trimethylsilyl ether derivatives on glass capillary columns in a combination gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC/MS) has been studied and found to be comparable with the separation in a conventional gas chromatograph. For the separation and identification of urinary steroids in a combination GC/MS these columns are especially suitable, as the gas chromatographic efficiency is higher, than on packed columns and the background of stationary phase in the mass spectra is neglegible. Examples of separation and identification of urinary steroids in a GC/MS combination are given.
