Notizen:
Summary A complex variable theory of plane thermoelasticity is used to determine closed form expressions for the steady-state stress and displacement fields in an elastic half-plane containing a symmetrical, tooth-shaped projection. A singular line heat source pierces the half-plane at an arbitrary point. The tooth surface is assumed to be traction free and to satisfy either isothermal or adiabatic thermal boundary conditions. Graphical results are presented for a particular tooth geometry with the singular heat source located at a point on the axis of symmetry (i) near the tooth surface, and (ii) remote from the tooth. Of particular interest is the fact that the maximum stresses do not occur at the minimum radius of curvature of the tooth.
