Notes:
Summary In children with Fallot's tetralogy, after performing an aortopulmonary shunt with a plastic prothesis and in patients with ventricular septal defects with pulmonary hypertension after banding procedures, blood-flow determinations were performed during surgery with the aid of a flowmeter. Flow-through measures in the aortic-pulmonary shunt showed volumes which are of the magnitude of the preoperative pulmonary flow. The correlation to the severity of the condition —measured on the preoperative pulmonary flow and on the hematocrit—cannot be demonstrated. Flow-volume measurements in the aorta, after banding operations showed a constant increase of the flow-force, with a mean of 37% and a pressure decrease in the pulmonary artery by 36%.
