Abstract The results of investigation of the limiting state of cracked plates formed from aluminum alloy D16AT under biaxial tension are presented. The ratio of the corresponding displacements of the plate's boundary and the ratio of nominal stresses at the crack tip are adopted as parameters characterizing the stress-strain state of the plate's material. A relation is established between these parameters and the limiting state of the plate.
