Summary By the use of a specially designed trephine technique (myelotomy), the indications for histological examination of the marrow have become as extensive as those for cytological investigation. At the same time, an improved histological technique has been elaborated which has opened new avenues in the investigation of the histo-morphology of the marrow and also in interpretation. When this procedure is used for examination of the circulation in the bone marrow, entirely new concepts of the circulation become necessary and to novel conclusions as to abnormal circulatory changes and their pathogenetic significance.

Zusammenfassung Mit einer hierzu entwickelten Trepanationsmethode, der Myelotomie, nähert sich der Indikationsbereich der klinischen Markhistologie dem der Mark-Zytologie. Durch gleichzeitige Einführung einer verbesserten histologischen Technik eröffnen sich der Histo-Morphologie des menschlichen Knochenmarkes neue Möglichkeiten, deren Erfassung eine neue Ordnung der Begriffe voraussetzt. Dieser Versuch wird zunächst am Mark-Kreislauf unternommen, er führt zu einer Neuorientierung der Ansichten über den normalen Markkreislauf, zu einer Zusammenfassung pathologischer Kreislaufveränderungen und zur Diskussion ihrer pathogenetischen Bedeutung.
