    Notes: We have focused our attention on the dependence of Ba1−xRbxBiO3 (BRBO) film composition ratio and film properties on rubidium-beam-flux intensity. BRBO films were deposited on MgO(100) substrates by molecular-beam epitaxy (MBE) using distilled ozone. Systematic measurements showed that the rubidium content was nearly independent of rubidium-beam-flux intensity in a wide beam-flux range. Therefore, it can be concluded that some degree of self-control of rubidium stoichiometry is actually possible in BRBO film growth by MBE. This study also revealed that the BRBO film properties had strong dependences on rubidium-beam-flux intensity even in the range for self-control of rubudium stoichiometry. Our study also clarified that rubidium-beam flux affects the barium content in the BRBO film.

    Notes: A Ba1−xRbxBiO3 (BRBO) ultrathin film (120 A(ring)) with a zero-resistance transition temperature of 14 K was deposited on a SrTiO3(110) substrate by molecular beam epitaxy using distilled ozone. The critical current density of 2×105 A/cm2 was achieved in 200-A(ring)-thick BRBO thin film, and this observed critical current density is much larger than the previously reported data. The dependence of BRBO film properties on film thickness is studied for the first time.

    Notes: Abstract The viscosity and density of three binary mixtures of cyclohexane with n-octane, n-dodecane, and n-hexadecane have been measured at 298, 323, and 348 K at pressures up to 150 MPa or freezing pressures. The measurements of the viscosity were performed by a torsionally vibrating crystal viscometer on a relative basis using benzene and cyclohexane as reference materials. The density was measured using a high-pressure burette apparatus. The uncertainties of the measurements are estimated to be less than 2% for viscosity and 0.1% for density, respectively. The effects of temperature, pressure, density, and composition on the viscosity are discussed. Applicabilities of several empirical correlating equations to the viscosity data were examined.

    Notes: Abstract A new capillary viscometer has been constructed and the viscosities of methanol, 2-methyl-2-propanol, and their mixtures have been measured at two temperatures, 303 and 323 K, and at pressures up to 30 MPa. Simple empirical equations are given to represent the pressure and composition dependences of the viscosity within the experimental uncertainty of ±2%.

    Notes: Abstract The thermal conductivity of new environmentally acceptable fluorocarbons HFC-134a (CH2FCF3), HFC-143a (CH3CF3), HCFC-141b (CH3CCl2F), and HCFC-142b (CH3CCl2F) in the gaseous phase has been measured in the temperature range 293–353 K at pressures up to 4 MPa. The thermal conductivity has been measured with a coaxial-cylinder cell on a relative basis. The apparatus was calibrated with He, Ne, Ar, Kr, N2, CH4, and SF6 as reference fluids. The uncertainty of the experimental data obtained is estimated to be within 2% except for the uncertainty associated with the reference thermal-conductivity values. The excess thermal conductivity has been correlated satisfactorily as a function of density.

    Notes: Abstract Viscosities of binary mixtures of cyclohexane with protiobenzene, C6H6, or deuteriobenzene, C6D6, have been measured at 298 and 323 K and at pressures up to 50 MPa using a capillary viscometer. The viscosities of these mixtures obtained were represented by a empirical Tait-type equation within the experimental uncertainty of ±2%. The effect of the isotopic substitution on the viscosity has been discussed.

    Notes: Abstract The anomalous charge states formed after the electron capture decay, of57Co in FeSO4·H2O and FeSO4·7H2O are investigated using the conventional Mössbauer emission spectroscopy and a gamma-X ray coincidence method. This method is based on the idea that a Mössbauer spectrum observed with the coincidence technique only when K-X rays are emitted is reflected by isolated events with a reduced influence of the Auger-electron self-irradiation. The formation of the anomalous electronic and structural configuration is attributed to the self-radiolysis of the H2O and SO 4 2− ligands in the nearest and the second nearest coordination shells around the decaying atom.
