Notes: Summary The present report describes the case history of an 8-year-old girl with a suspected malignant lymphoma of the nasopharynx that was subsequently proven to be due to infectious mononucleosis. The literature is reviewed.

Notes: Summary Under the Antarctic coastal fast ice a light trap proved to be promising device for collecting not only planktonic animals, but also micronektonic animals like krill which have been rarely collected with tow nets. Sampling was conducted at night from May through November, 1984 in Kitano-ura Cove off the East Ongul Island in Lützow-Holm Bay. Design of the gear and the sampling procedure are described. A total of 37 samplings were made that resulted in the collection of seven species of copepods, eight species of amphipods, three forms of notothenid fish larvae, two species each of euphausiids and polychaetes, and one species each of mysid, cumacean, isopod and tanaid crustaceans. All were collected in satisfactory condition for laboratory experiments. During the winter Euphasia superba was found to be benthopelagic and it probably feeds on detritus on the sea floor at about 40 m depth under the ice.

Notes: Abstract Tests of fundamental symmetries offer the promise of possibly unique insights into the nature of the strong interaction. We review the current status of selected experimental and theoretical investigations of charge symmetry in fewbody systems.

Notes: Abstract The triton binding energy, the percentages ofS, S′, andD states, and the asymptotic normalization constants are presented for 5-, 18-, 26-, and 34-channel Faddeev calculations with some realistic two-nucleon potentials and the Tucson-Melbourne three-nucleon potential. For the two-nucleon interaction, we take the Reid soft-core, the Argonne, the Paris, and the de-Tourreil-Rouben-Sprung potentials. The convergence properties of these calculations are discussed in detail. It turns out that five-channel calculations are decisively insufficient. We also discuss some asymptotic properties, such as the asymptotic normalization constants, the charge radius, and the momentum distribution in the long-wave-length region. It is shown that these quantities do not depend on the specific dynamics of the system, but only on the binding energy.

Notes: Abstract The method of continued fractions proposed by Horáček and Sasakawa is applied to calculate the binding energy of the triton. By this method, the Faddeev equation is solved very quickly. We solved it with 34 channels for the super-soft core (TRS), Paris (PARIS) and Argonne (AV) potentials with Tucson-Melbourne (TM) three-nucleon potential. The binding energy obtained from these realistic two-nucleon potentials without a threenucleon potential is at most 7.7 MeV. If we include the TM three-nucleon potential taking a cutoff mass of Λ=800 MeV for the dipole πNN form factor, the triton is overbound (9.3 ≈ 9.7 MeV), whereas for Λ=700 MeV, we get binding energies which almost agree with the experimental value; TRS+TM, 8.47; PARIS + TM, 8.32; AV+TM, 8.42 MeV.

Notes: Abstract Lenses of Emory mice, ranging in age from 7 days to 15 months, were studied by light and electron microscopy. The earliest change was acellularity in the lens epithelium, which was found at postnatal day 14. This acellularity was relatively mild but constantly occurred throughout the experimental course. The early cortical fiber change was swelling in the anterior region of the lens at 1 month of age. At 2 months of age some cell extensions towards the capsule appeared at the basal surface of the posterior cortical fibers near the equatorial region, and their height and number had greatly increased by 4 months of age. Following this change, there was an enlargement of nuclei in the bow area, swelling of cortical fibers, and separation of the posterior suture line. These changes became severe by 6 months of age. When the separation of the posterior suture and disturbance of the posterior cortical fibers became markedly severe, the cataract reached a mature stage, showing the complete opacity of the cortex. This animal model appears to indicate that the viability and/or behavior of the epithelial cells is important for maintaining the transparency of the lens throughout the lifespan.

Notes: Conclusion The effect of increasing number of channels as well as the inclusion of the three-body force is very important in the charge form factor. We succeeded in getting a very good fit with the experimental result for3He. The experiment on3H is waited for. It will give important informations about the effect of the three-body force, as well as the neutron electro-magnetic form factor. A precise experiment about the first minimum of the magnetic form factor of3He is necessary.
