Notes: Abstract Analytical expressions are derived for the double-differential multiplicities with respect to energy and angle for the diabatic emission of neutron and protons in central nucleus-nucleus collisions. Results are presented for40Ca+40Ca,58Ni+58Ni and92Mo +92Mo, each system at three bombarding energies around 12MeV/u. The energy spectra are dominated at low energies by the evaporation part and at high energies by the diabatic part which decreases more slowly towards higher energies. In addition to the high-energy tail and the forward-backward peaking, the diabatic part is characterized by factorization of the double-differential multiplicity into energy-dependent and angle-dependent factors.

Notes: Abstract Within a selfconsistent description for the one- and two-body density matrices collective variables are introduced via scaling diabatic states. Equations of collective motion coupled to a collision integral for the single-particle occupation probabilities are derived from the randomness of the two-body interaction matrix elements and from an additional time smoothing procedure. For a linear approximation to the time-dependence of the single-particle energies the collision term conserves energy all by itself, i.e. the time-smoothed time derivative of the correlation energy vanishes.

Notes: Abstract First numerical studies of the time-dependence of central nucleus-nucleus collisions within the dissipative diabatic approach are presented. Effects from the non-markovian behaviour of dissipation, i.e., from the partially elastic response are illustrated and discussed for40Ca +40Ca and90Zr +90Zr at various incident energies. In particular, the probability for the emission of precompound giant quadrupole gammas in the fusion process of intermediate-mass nuclei is estimated.

Notes: Abstract The possibility of bound two-pion (Cooper) pairs in a nuclear medium and their eventual Bose condensation is pointed out. This stems from the fact that freeπ —π scattering in theI=0,l=0 channel shows attraction and that the kinetic energy is strongly suppressed in matter through coupling to Δ —h intermediate states. Connections to theσ meson in effective field theories for nuclear matter are discussed.

Notes: Abstract Within an axially symmetric two-center shell model single-particle levels with Ω=1/2 are analyzed with respect to their level-spacing distributions and avoided level crossings as functions of the shape parameters. Only for shapes sufficiently far from any additional symmetry, ideal Wigner distributions are found as signature for quantum chaos.
