Notes: Summary Cholecystokinin-octapeptide (CCK-8) was shown to cause hypothermia after intracerebroventricular administration in the rat, and the hypothermic effect of CCK-8 was antagonized by simultaneous injection of TRH.

Notes: Summary In vagotomized rats, 2 weeks after surgery, the amplitude of the circadian rhythm of plasma corticosterone was extremely low, indicating that gastrointestinal activity may be in part involved in the hypothalamo-hypophyseal circadian rhythmicity.

Notes: Abstract A child with a traumatic uriniferous perirenal pseudocyst was presented. The diagnosis was not made by routine radiological studies, but ultrasound examination demonstrated a perirenal fluid accumulation clearly. The usefulness of the ultrasound examination in the diagnosis of this condition was emphasized. The characteristic finding in ultrasonogram consists of a hydronephrotic kidney and its invagination into the echolucent mass. When perirenal cystic lesions are demonstrated by ultrasound, the junctional zone between the cyst and kidney should be carefully checked for signs of invagination of the kidney into the cyst.

Notes: Summary Root hairs increase phosphorus, P, uptake over that due to the plant root alone. A mechanistic model using 16 parameters was developed to describe this process. The model was verified with an experiment using six species that varied widely in root hair length, density and radius. A sensitivity analysis was conducted and the results are included to illustrate the situations where root hairs contribute significantly to P uptake. Length of root hair, root hair density and root hair radius all influenced predicted P uptake with root hair length being particularily significant.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract Supported SnO2/SiO2 catalysts have been prepared by the reaction of the surface hydroxy groups of silica gel and gas phase tin chloride (PS method). The catalytic properties have been examined in the reaction of 2-propanol to show the effect of VPS cycles on the amount and nature of the active sites.
