    Is Lysolecithin an In Vivo Constituent of Chromaffin Granules? (1983)

    Notes: Abstract: It was recently claimed that lysolecithin (lysophosphatidylcholine) in chromaffin granules is a postmortem artefact. We have, therefore, determined catecholamine/lysolecithin ratios in adrenal tissues and isolated chromaffin granules. In rat adrenals and bovine medulla the ratios in both tissues and granules were similar. This indicates that even in rapidly frozen rat adrenal glands, sufficient lysolecithin is present in the total tissue to account for its presence in isolated organelles. Owing to the high cortex/medulla ratios such studies cannot be performed with guinea pig or rabbit adrenals. However, isolated chromaffin granules from guinea pig, in contrast to a previous study, do contain lysolecithin. We conclude that lysolecithin is an in vivo constituent of chromaffin granules of all species so far investigated.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Beide Muskelrezeptoren an der Mandibel von Leuctra ziehen vom vorderen Tentorium-Arm zur Mandibel-Basis. Der ventrale Rezeptor besteht aus zwei dünnen Muskelfasern (6 bis 7 μm Durchmesser) und mindestens 10 multiterminalen Sinneszellen, deren Dendriten sich im Innern der Fasern verzweigen und an den Z-Scheiben enden. Der dorsale Rezeptor besitzt drei ähnlich dünne Muskelfasern, aber nur eine einzelne multiterminale Sinneszelle. Ihre Dendriten enden im Ansatzgebiet des Muskels, zwischen Muskelfasern und Epidermiszellen. Beide Rezeptoren haben im wesentlichen denselben Feinbau wie bei Coleopteren, jedoch treten — besonders beim dorsalen Rezeptor — in den Dendriten-Enden Strukturen auf, die den Tubularkörpern bei Mechanosensillen ähneln.
    Notes: Summary The muscle receptor organs of the mandible of Leuctra extend between the anterior tentorial arm and the mandible base. The ventral receptor is composed of two thin muscle fibres (6–7 μm in diameter) and at least ten multiterminal sensory cells, the dendrites of which branch in the interior of the fibres and end near the z-bands. The dorsal receptor organ consists of three muscle fibres of similar diameter and only one multiterminal sensory cell. The dendritic ends lie at the distal end of the muscle, where muscle fibres and epidermal cells make contact. Both receptor organs essentially show the same ultrastructural characteristics as in Coleoptera. However, the dorsal receptor organ in particular possesses organelles in its dendritic ends, which look like the tubular bodies in ciliary mechanoreceptors.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Nach Abtrennen des größten Teiles des in den Bodenaufschlüssen vorhandenen Eisens mit Acetylaceton/Chloroform wird Thallium durch eine Extraktion mit APDC/MIBK (Ammoniumpyrrolidin/Methylisobutylketon) mit anschließender Reextraktion mit Salpetersäure angereichert. Das Abtrennen des Eisens ist notwendig, um Störungen zu vermeiden. Nach der oben erwähnten Behandlung der Aufschlußlösungen können keine Störungen durch Begleitionen auf die Absorption des Thalliums beobachtet werden, jedoch nur dann, wenn Zirkonium-beschichtete Graphitrohre als Absorptionsvolumina verwendet werden. Wiederfindungsversuche bestätigten den quantitativen Verlauf von Extraktion und Reextraktion des Thalliums. Als Nachweisgrenze für Thallium wurde eine Konzentration von 0,007 mg/l ermittelt. Thallium wird um den Faktor fünf angereichert. Mit dem angegebenen Verfahren können neben Thallium, gleichgültig, ob es in ein- oder dreiwertiger Form vorliegt, auch noch Cd, Pb, Co und Ni bestimmt werden.
    Notes: Summary After removing the major part of iron from digested soil solutions by an extraction with acetylacetone/chloroformium, thallium is enriched by an extraction with APDC/MIBK (ammoniumpyrrolidine/methylisobutylketone) and subsequent reextraction with nitric acid. The preliminary separation of iron is necessary in order to avoid interferences. After the above mentioned treatment of the solutions no interferences of thallium by accompanying ions can be observed, if the analyses are carried out in zirconium coated graphite tubes. Investigations of recoveries confirmed that extraction and reextraction of thallium were quantitative. Detection limits were found to be 0.007 mg Tl/l reextract. Thallium is enriched by a factor of five. Besides thallium (in mono- or trivalent state), Cd, Pb, Co and Ni can be determined with the same procedure.

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary 70 eV-Mass spectra of three anellated and two non-anellated thiophenecarboxylic acids and thiophenecarboxylic acid esters, as well as three 1,2,3-thiadiazoles, are discussed with respect to their neutral losses. Compounds investigated are intermediates of the synthesis of bisanellated thiophenes, which are suggested as reference compounds for identifying sulphur heterocycles in high boiling crude oil fractions. The thiophene ring is anellated with thieno or naphtho groups, or has two carboxylic acid functional groups. An indeno system is fused in two different ways to the thiadiazole ring, producing two isomeric structures. The thiophenes 1–5 have high molecular ion percentages and show characteristic fragmentations. This is the loss of CO2 or 2CO2 (M-44, M-88) in the case of the carboxylic acids. The carboxylic acid esters lose partially (M-31) or completely (M-59) the ester group, also in conjunction with the simultaneous loss of CO (M-87). The thiadiazoles 6–8 show in contrast only small percentages of the molecular ions. The loss of N2 (M-28) also in combination with CO (M-56 for 6) and CS (M-72 for 7 and 8) is typical for this class of compounds.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung 70 eV-Massenspektren von drei anellierten und zwei nichtanellierten ThiophencarbonsÄuren und -estern sowie drei 1,2,3-Thiadiazolen werden anhand der Neutralbruchstückabspaltung diskutiert. Bei den untersuchten Verbindungen handelt es sich um Zwischenprodukte bei der Synthese bisanellierter Thiophene, die als Modellsubstanzen für Schwefelverbindungen in hochsiedenden Erdölfraktionen in Frage kommen. Der Thiophenring ist dabei mit Thieno- oder Naphthogruppen anelliert oder besitzt zwei CarbonsÄurefunktionen. An das Thiadiazolsystem ist in zwei isomeren Anordnungen ein Indenosystem anelliert. Die Thiophene 1–5 zeichnen sich durch hohe Molekülionenanteile aus. Bei den CarbonsÄuren überwiegt die Abspaltung von CO2 (M-44, M-88), bei den Estern die teilweise (M-31) oder vollstÄndige (M-59) Abspaltung einer Estergruppe, auch in Verbindung mit CO (M-87). Die Thiadiazole 6–8 besitzen dagegen einen geringen Molekülionenanteil. Charakteristisch ist die N2-Abstraktion (M-28) und deren Kombination mit CO (M-56 bei Verbindung 6) und CS (M-72 bei Verbindungen 7 und 8).

    Description / Table of Contents: Summary To assist the investigation of oxidation products of sulphur compounds in high-boiling crude oil fractions, the mass spectra of several bisanellated thiophenediones were recorded with a mass spectrometer using 70 eV electron impact. The model substances were seven bisanellated dicyclopenta[b,d]thiophenediones, the benzo- (with and without methyl substituents), naphtho- and thieno-systems being anellated. Spectra were interpreted for both neutral fragmentation and double-charged ions. All thiophenediones yield a high proportion of molecular ions, and show characteristic fragmentation, especially the loss of CO and CO + CS.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung 70 eV EI-Massenspektren von bisanellierten Thiophendionen, die als Modellsubstanzen für Oxidationsprodukte von Schwefelverbindungen in hochsiedenden Erdölfraktionen in Frage kommen, werden diskutiert. Bei den Modellsubstanzen handelt es sich um sieben bisanellierte Dicyclopenta[b,d]thiophendione. Anelliert sind das Benzo-(mit und ohne Methylsubstituenten), Naphtho- und Thieno-System. Die Spektren werden anhand der Neutralbruchstückabspaltung und der doppeltgeladenen Ionen interpretiert.
