Notes: Conclusions 1. The reproducibility of the results of determining the cracking resistance of the materials plays an important role in calculating the permissible crack length or verifying the reliability of structures. 2. The distribution of the cracking resistance characteristics of the material can be conveniently described by Weibull's distribution, whose lower limit is also the main parameter of the calculations. 3. According to the results obtained up to the present day, the lower limit of Weibull's distribution cannot be determined reliably from the mean value of rms deviation.

Notes: Abstract The embryonic development of the cell population of the mammalian vitreous has been traced to two sources: the undifferentiated mesenchymal cells of the eye primordium and the primitive reticular cells of the bone marrow. Undifferentiated mesenchymal cells invade the future vitreous space in two ways: through the annular opening between the rim of the optic cup and the lens primordium, and through the open embryonic fissure. They differentiate into prevascular cells, hemangioblasts, and fibrocytes located in the area of the optic nerve head. From the very beginning of fetal development, another ameboid-type cell of mesenchymal origin makes its entrance into the vitreous through the hyaloid vessels; these monocyte-like cells differentiate into hyalocytes and populate a well-defined area of the cortical vitreous close to the retina and to the ora serrata. Gamma-irradiation (600 rads) of newly born rabbits and cats decreases the number of migrating amebocytes in their vitreous; 24 h later, however, they are replaced by monocytes from the hyaloid vessels.

Notes: Conclusion Using the wave functions and the expressions for the magnetic moments of top hadrons, given in tables I–IV, as well as the estimates of the quark magnetic moments, the numerical values of the magnetic moments of top hadrons can be calculated.

Notes: Abstract Under the assumption of theSU(6) internal hadron symmetry, a six quark model with different flavours is proposed. There are constructedSU(6) multiplets of mesonsJ p =0}, 1− and baryonsJ p =3/2+, 1/2+ according to the irreducible representations ofSU(6) group. It is natural to assume that this symmetry is broken by heaviness of quarks. That gave us the possibility to derive mass sum rules for these hadrons and make theoretical predictions of masses for bottom vector mesons.

Notes: Abstract The stress—strain relation of polycrystalline Cu-1 at% Co wire samples were investigated by simultaneous torsion and extension. For this stress state a single valued stress—strain relation, valid at the outer radius of the sample, can be derived, which gives results equivalent to a pure tensile test. With the analysis of the plastic work the generalized flow law is proved. It is shown that the tensile stress is not homogeneously distributed along the cross-section of the wire during simultaneous torsion and extension. Its value, valid at the outer radius, can be separated into two parts, one originating from the tensile force and another one which is proportional to the torsional shear stress. An extrapolation to the case of pure torsion is given.

Notes: Abstract The mechanical properties of an internally oxidized Cu-Co-Si alloy of wire form was studied by torsional deformation. It is found that as a result of the internal oxidation the ageing heat-treatments lead to the formation of regions with cylindrical symmetry which have significantly different mechanical properties.

Notes: Abstract Chemical reactions which occur in a thermal plasma between fine powders of tungsten and graphite and between powdered tungsten and methane have been studied. When using a commercial d.c. torch and a standard reactor design, the conversion to tungsten carbide is relatively poor. With a specially designed reactor operating in a transferred-arc mode, nearly complete conversion to carbide results when operating at the same power level and with methane as a reactant. Crystal structures and particle morphologies have been studied with electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Several initial stages of the particle-particle and particle-gas reactions have been determined. A number of interesting composite particles corresponding to intermediate reaction steps has been observed.
