    Notizen: Abstract. Suspension cultured cells of Chenopodium rubrum were grown photoautotrophically under a diurnal light-dark cycle of 16-8h. The following phases of the batch culture were differentiated: a short lag, a cell division phase terminated by a pronounced transition to stationary maintenance which finally gradually passed into senescence. Nitrogen fluxes typical of these stages were followed by measuring uptake of NO3 and NH4+ from the medium and their incorporation into the cellular fractions of nitrogenous compounds. Activities of seven N-metabolizing enzymes were determined. Compartmentation of enzymes and nitrogenous compounds was analysed after isolation of intact chloroplasts and vacuoles from protoplasts. Eighty-two per cent of the N originally present in the medium was taken up and incorporated to an extent of 80% into protein until the end of the division phase. Net protein synthesis ceased upon transition to the stationary phase. During the division phase a vacuolar pool of NO3 was established and then maintained throughout the resting phase. Free cellular NH4+ was not localized within the vacuole and responded to the ammonium content of the medium. Amino acids accumulated in the cells especially during the stationary phase, during which they were present in the vacuole. Typical nitrogen relations are portrayed as flux diagrams for one day of each of the essential developmental phases. The enzyme activities were easily sufficient to account for the observed flow rates of the corresponding nitrogenous compounds. Hence, uptake of NO3 and NH4+ must be considered as steps limiting N metabolism in Chenopodium rubrum cell suspensions.

Zu denselben Meßzeitpunkten war die druckabhängige Venenkapazität des erkrankten Unterschenkels um −1,32±0,61 (p〈0,005) (−38%) bzw. −0,98±1,49 (p〉0,05) (−32%) ml/100 ml Gewebe vermindert (Vergleich mit der kontralateralen Seite).
    Notizen: Summary In 10 patients arterial and venous hemodynamics of the leg have been examined 69 to 175 days after fracture of the tibia using venous occlusive plethysmography. 90.1±16.7 and 120.3±16.5 days after the fracture, respectively, the bloodflow of the injured calf was increased by +4.27±1.93 (p〈0.005) (+197%) and +3.94±1.45 (p〈0.001) ml/100 ml tissue/min, respectively, whereas the bloodflow at the foot was increased by +0.54±0.68 (p〉0.05) (+76%) and by +3.39±1.24 (p〈0.001) (+424%) ml/100 ml tissue/min, respectively (as compared with the contralateral side). At the same time the venous capacity of the calf was decreased by −1.32±0.61 (p〈0.005) (−38%) and by −0.98±1.49 (p〉0.05) (−32%) ml/100 ml tissue, respectively (as compared with the contralateral side).

    Notizen: Summary With the prepared plasterbandages Cellona®, Gypsona® and Platrix® standardized test models were mouldet and after fixed drying times bending stresses and peak stress loadings were measured. After 90 min there was a marked increase in firmness and after 120 min the endresult was reached. The result of all three plasters bandages was similar.

Our TRS calculations suggest rotational bands, but with an experimental sensitivity of ≈2%, we see none. Our results differ from those of Sharma, et al, who report two isolated E2 bands. We find them less band-like, being joined at the top and changed in content and order. We suggest a noncollective oblate shape for a new 39/2− level.

In the guinea pig heart-lung-preparation (HLP) anaphylactic bronchospasm was not greatly affected by mepyramine (2–40 μg/ml blood), adrenaline (0.1 and 1 μg/ml), noradrenaline (0.1 μg/ml) or papaverine (100 μg/ml) but was completely abolished by combining mepyramine with the lower dose of adrenaline. A partial antagonism was achieved by the combined action of mepyramine and papaverine which became complete when adrenaline was added. 2. Bronchospasm due to histamine was completely prevented by mepyramine, but only partially antagonized by both adrenaline doses used. 3. The increase of pulmonary vascular resistance in anaphylaxis was not inhibited by the highest tolerated amounts of mepyramine or papaverine, no matter whether the drugs were given alone or in combination. Adrenaline, in contrast to noradrenaline, was partially effective at the lower dose (0.1 μg/ml). The higher concentration did not act more strongly. It became fully effective when mepyramine was added either alone or combined with papaverine. 4. The increase of pulmonary vascular resistance induced by histamine was strongly and significantly antagonized by mepyramine alone as well as by the lower concentration of adrenaline (0.1 μg/ml). Noradrenaline had no significant effect in either amount given (0.1 and 1 μg/ml). 5. Antigen increased heart rate in sensitized HLPs, probably due to histamine release. This effect was resistant to mepyramine. 6. The present findings are discussed a) with respect to the refractoriness of the anaphylactic bronchospasm to mepyramine, an effect displayed in isolated lung preparations but not in intact animals. b) with respect to the mechanism of the so-called protracted shock which is mainly due to heart failure.
