    Notes: Summary Within a short period of time, we observed 6 cases with the appearance of calcium oxalate crystals in the renal tubuli and in the walls of cerebral arterioles. Reviewing the case histories showed that all of these patients had received large doses of xylitol and had shown subsequently disorders of consciousness. A possible deposition of oxalate crystals following high-dose-therapy with xylitol is discussed.

    Adaptation of influenza virus to growth in cultured murine methylcholanthrene induced tumors (1974)

    Notes: Summary Primary fibrosarcomas induced by methylcholanthrene in inbred and inbredcongenic mice were explanted and established in long-term, high density monolayer cultures which were characterized with regard to tumorigenicity and immunogenicity. Following a period of adaptation, influenza virus (strain WSN) could be grown to high titers in most but not all lines, with the resultant destruction of tumor monolayers. Vesicular stomatitis virus and encephalomyocarditis virus grew in all tumor lines tested without adaptation. The immunogenicity of one line of cultured tumor cells was strikingly enhanced in syngeneic mice following infection of the cells by influenza virus.

Während der Zeit, die sonst zur Vorbereitung einer temporären Spalthautplastik angewendet werden muß, führt dieses Verfahren durch voll ständigen Wundschluß zur absolut transplantationsbereiten Empfängerfläche. Gleichzeitig kann z. B. ein gestielter Lappen geplant and vorbereitet werden. Durch die schnelle provisorische Überhäutung wird die Zeit his zur Durchführung einer endgültigen Lappenplastik hiermit wesentlich verkürzt bei gleichzeitiger Steigerung des Sicherheitsfaktors.
    Notes: Summary A skin culture which can be used on any infected wound with bad circulation after only a few days of preparation is suitable for the planning and execution of safe final plastic surgery. During the time which would otherwise have to be spent in preparation of a temporary split-skin graft, this process, due to its complete closure of the wound, makes an area absolutely ready to receive transplantation. Thus, for example, a pediculated flap can be planned and prepared at the same time. The rapid provisional covering with skin allows final plastic surgery to be executed much sooner, thereby raising the safety factor.

Genausogut kann hiermit eine von oben nach unten eich abstufende Ordnung verdeutlicht werden, die sich z.B. auf Erfahrung und Verantwortung gründet. Die Funktion der Facharztweiterbildung urd damit die Weisungsberechtigung, ist in Deutschland an den verantwortlichen Leiter eines Rrarkenhauses gebunden. Eine gewisse Abhängigkeit ist für den in der Weiterbildung Befindlichen nicht zu vermeiden. Genausowenig entgeht der Chefarzt der Haftung für den von ihm weiterzubildenden Arzt.

It can just as well illustrate a system which descends from the top to the bottom in clear steps based, for example, on experience and responsibility. The implementation of the further training of specialists—and therefore the right to issue directives—is in the hands of responsible hospital superintendents in Germany. Inevitably, those undergoing further training are thus subject to some degree of dependence. By the some tokem the medical superintendent cannot escape liability for the doctor receiving his further training under him.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wird über zwei Fälle — eine 70 Jahre alt gewordene Frau und einen 66 Jahre alt gewordenen Mann — berichtet, bei denen post mortem ein interatrial gelegenes Lipom gefunden wurde, das von anderen Autoren auch als eine knotenförmige lipomatöse Hypertrophie im Vorhofseptum bezeichnet wird. In dem einen Fall bestand eine paroxysmale Tachyarhythmie mit Vorhofflimmern, die durch diese Fettgewebsgeschwulst erklärt werden könnte. Das Lipom bzw. die lipomatöse Hypertrophie im Vorhofseptum wurde mit einem Durchschnittsalter von 72 Jahren fast ausschließlich bei alten Menschen gefunden. Demgegenüber beträgt das Durchschnittsalter der Patienten bei den übrigen Fällen mit einem Lipom des Herzens 44 Jahre. Es sollte deshalb bei älteren Menschen mit einer Störung der Erregungsbildung im Vorhof differentialdiagnostisch auch an ein Lipom bzw. eine lipomatöse Hypertrophie im Vorhofseptum gedacht werden.
    Notes: Summary In a 70 years old woman suffering from paroxysmal tachyarhythmia and atrial fibrillation and in a 66 year old man, interatrial lipomas are discovered by post mortem examination. This lesion, named lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum by other authors, obviously is correlated with cardiac dysrhythmia. As seen from literature, interatrial lipomas are to be found in elderly patients with an average age of 72 years, whilst cardiac lipomas of other localizations are occurring in a medium age of 44 years. Therefore, interatrial lipomas should be taken in consideration in cases of cryptogenetic cardiac dysrhythmia.
