Notes: Abstract The Larmor precession of the first excited state of172Yb has been measured by perturbedγγ-angular correlations in a liquid source at two different temperatures. By a comparison with theg-factor of this state directly obtained by other experiments the corresponding paramagnetic correction factors were deduced to beβ(20 °C)=2.61±0.27 andβ(33 °C)=2.43±0.27. For the ions Sm3+, Dy3+ and Er3+ the paramagnetic correction factors have been calculated from experimental data given in literature.

Notes: Abstract Statistically perturbed angular correlations of160Dy and172Yb have been time differentially investigated in liquid sources. As solvents we used ethylalcohol and concentrated hydrochloric acid at various temperatures. From our results we have calculated the ratio of the spectroscopic quadrupole moments of the 2+ rotational and the 3+ isomeric level in172Yb asQ 3+/Q 2+=1.33±0.14.

Notes: Abstract Energies and relative intensities of γ-rays from the decay of65Ge have been measured. The half-life was measured to be (31.2±0.7) sec. From the measured intensity of the annihilition radiation the intensity of the groundstate ß+ feeding was determined to be 〈10%. A total of 31 γ transitions was placed in a level scheme. The spin and parity of the groundstate of65Ge was determined to be 3/2− (5/2−).

Notes: Abstract Investigations of the rotational band based on the 3+ 3 two quasiparticle state in172Yb have shown that some of its properties can be well described by the collective model of Bohr and Mottelson. As a result of these investigations we have derived the ratio (g k – g R )/Q o =− (0.0136 ± 0.0007). The magneticg-factor of the band head has also been determined by an integral angular correlation measurement perturbed by an external magnetic field. As a result we foundg=0.201 ± 0.030. Using this value and our result of (g k – g R )/Q o we have calculated theg R -factor of the two quasiparticle state asg R =0.283 ± 0.018 which is out of the errors smaller than theg R -factor of the ground state rotational band. An analysis of our angular correlation experiments gave for the mixing parameter δ of theK-forbidden 1094 keV intraband transition: δ=− (3.63 −0.06 +0.14 ) in agreement with the results of other authors.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Flameless atomic absorption spectrophotometric methods for the microanalysis and trace element analysis of rocks are described. The microanalysis of the elements Al, Fe, Mn and Ti so far determined can be carried out in the diluted solution of the digested samples (2.5 mg substance/250 ml to 5 mg/100 ml) without additional separation. In the case of trace element analysis the elements may be determined either directly in the solution (Sr, Pb) or after separation. Separation can be carried out by extraction from the solution (Tl) or by the volatilization technique with the solid substance heated to 1000–1200°C (Tl, Pb, Cd, Bi). For Hg the method of electrolytical separation together with the volatilization technique is suitable. The methods were tested with rock standards for precision and accuracy.
