    Notizen: Abstract From Mössbauer effect measurements the magnetic momentμ=(+1.80±0.08) nm of the 83.4 keV rotational state of153Eu and the ratio of the changes of the mean square charge radiiΔ〈r 2〉 (153Eu, 83 keV)/Δ〈r 2〉 (153Eu, 103 keV)=+0.025±0.008 were determined. The results are interpreted on the basis of mixing of rotational bands by the Coriolis force.

    Notizen: Abstract The Mössbauer effect of theγ rays from the 74.5 keV state of Dy161 and the 80.7 keV state of Dy162 has been investigated. From hyperfine splitting patterns the magnetic moments μ(75 keV)=−(0.39±0.04) nm, μ(81 keV)=+(0.74±0.08) nm and the quadrupole momentQ(75 keV)=+(1.4±0.2)b have been determined. For the odd neutron nucleus Dy161 an effective spin g factorg s, eff=0.76 gs, free is deduced for the 75 keV level.

Comparison with170Yb reveals slightly increasing rigidity at constant equilibrium deformation if two neutron pairs are added.     Notizen: Abstract Mössbauer transmission experiments with the 137, 155, 69 and 187 keV gamma rays of186, 188, 189, 190Os, respectively, yielded the electric quadrupole splitting of these gamma resonance lines in OsO2 and OsP2. From the results the following ratios of quadrupole moments were derived:Q 2 +(186Os, 137 keV):Q 2 +(188Os, 155keV):Q 2 +(190Os, 187 keV):Q 3/2 −(189Os, g.s.)=(+1.100±0.020): 1.0:(+0.863±0.051): (−0.586±0.011) andQ 5/2 −(189Os, 69 keV)/Q 3/2 −(189Os, g.s.)=−0.735 ±0.012. The ratios for180, 188, 190Os are, within their limits of error, in agreement with the expectation of the rotational model, indicating that the pairing-plusquadrupole model calculations of Kumar and Baranger predict too rapid a transition form rotational to vibrational nuclei. Applying this argument to186Os in particular and using the measured ratios, one obtains a set of values for the quadrupole moments themselves, namelyQ 2 + (186Os)=−(1.50 ± 0.10)b,Q 2 +(188Os)=−(1.36± 0.09) b,Q 2 + (190Os)=−(1.18 ± 0.08) b,Q 3/2 −(189Os)=+ (0.80 ± 0.06) b, andQ 5/2 − (189Os)=− (0.59 ± 0.05) b. For the electric field gradient at Os nuclei in Re metal a value ofV zz=−(3.3 ± 0.6) · 1017 V/cm2 was found. A measurement with a magnetically split source yielded δ=+ 0.685 ± 0.025 for theE2/M1 mixing parameter of the 69 keV transition of189Os,g 5/2 −/g 3/2 −=0.895 ± 0.006 for the ratio of theg-factors of the 69 keV state and the groundstate, andH i=−(1135 ± 20) kOe for the hyperfine field at Os nuclei in an iron matrix.

    Notizen: Abstract The spectroscopic quadrupole moments and the magnetic dipole moments of the lowest 2+ states in186Os (137 keV) and188Os (155 keV) have been determined by Mößbauer transmission experiments. The electric quadrupole momentsQ 2+(Os 186)=− (1.80±0.22) b andQ 2+(Os 188)=−(1.81±0.24) b as well as their ratioQ 2+(Os 188)/Q 2+(Os 186)=1.00±0.07 within the limits of error agree withB(E2) data, if a comparison on the basis of the rotational model is made. For the g-factors and their ratio g2+(Os 186)=0.281±0.008, g2+(Os 188)=0.305±0.015 andg 2+(Os 188)/g 2+(Os 186)=1.08±0.05 was obtained. All results are compared with recent model calculations.

    Notizen: Abstract The temperature dependence of the anisotropy of γ-rays from the decay of oriented183,184Re nuclei situated in an iron matrix was measured between 14 and 33 mK. Magnetic hyperfine splitting constants ofgH HF=5.04(9) × 10−18 erg andgH HF=3.21 (13) × 10−18 erg were determined for the groundstates of183Re and184Re, respectively. With the previously known hyperfinefield of −760(15) kG for Re in iron the followingg-factors were deduced:183Reg=1.32 (5) and184Reg=0.84 (5). The E2/M1 mixing ratio of the 793 keV 2+ −2+ transition in184W was accurately determined to δ (793 keV)=+16.65 (85).

    Notizen: Abstract The isomer shift of the 21.7 keVγ transition in Eu151 has been studied for various divalent and trivalent europium compounds using the Mössbauer technique. Theγ energy is lower by up to 1.1·10−6 eV in divalent compounds than in trivalent compounds. Using data from atomic spectroscopy it is estimated that the electron density at the nucleus is larger by about 1.9·1026cm−3 for the configuration 4f 6 than for 4f 7 due to different shielding of thes 2 shells. The difference of the mean square radii of the 21.7 keV state and the ground state is thenδ〈r2〉=+0.03 fm2. The measured isomer shift between trivalent and metallic europium and the relatives-electron densities in the rare earth metals measured by the positron annihilation rates are used to establish a calibration scheme for isomer shifts in rare earth metals. This calibration scheme is used to deduce a changeδ〈r 2〉=+0.0055 fm2 between the 26 keV state and the ground state of Dy161.

    Notizen: Abstract The Mössbauer effect of the second excited state of theK=1/2 rotational band in Yb171 at 75.9 keV withI=5/2 was studied to determine its magnetic moment μ=(1.01±0.01)nm. This value agrees well with the one predicted by the previously determined magnetic parameters of theK=1/2 rotational band, confirming the adiabatic separation of intrinsic and rotational wave functions.

    Notizen: Abstract The hyperfine Splitting of the 80.6-keVγ transition in Er166 has been measured in erbium metal between 4.2 °K and 40 °K using the Mössbauer effect. There is evidence for a unique magnetic field and electric fieldgradient at all nuclei in erbium metal. The magnetic field decreases from (7.55±0.20)·106 Oe at 4.2 °K to (6.10±0.40)·106 Oe at 40 °K. Extrapolation to 0 °K yieldsH (0 °K)=(7.60±0.20)·106 Oe. The quadrupole interaction energy for the 80.6-keV state iseQ V Z′Z′/4=(0.95±0.20)·10−6 eV at 4.2 °K. These results are discussed and compared with other measurements.
