    Notes: Abstract Using older compilations and recent data the (n, p) cross sections for neutron energies between 14 and 15 MeV have been collected and revised critically. The experimental data can be represented phenomenologically by the formula $$\log _{10} ({{\sigma _{np} } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\sigma _{np} } {mb}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {mb}}) = 0.2 + 0.4A^{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 2}} - 4.6{{(N - Z)} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{(N - Z)} {A^{{2 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {2 3}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 3}} }}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {A^{{2 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {2 3}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 3}} }}$$ . The compound part of the (n, p) reactions is described by a statistical model; the direct reactions are taken into account semiempirically.

Notes: Summary A short description of the transmitting and receiving organ of Gnathonemus petersii is followed by results of experiments carried out to measure the sensitivity of the receptors for external signals (communication) and for distortions of the own electric field (active object location) with and without additive noise. Possible principles of reception are synchronous, asynchronous and threshold receivers; further experiments indicate the threshold receiver to be the most probable structure. Treating the active object location as a problem of statistical communication theory yields for small disturbances to a generalized cross-correlator, which in this case behaves like a threshold receiver.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary In cerebrospinal fluids (CSF) of patients with acute inflammatory cerebral diseases, brain atrophies and tumours of the CNS we observed a higher activity of adenosine deaminase than in normal persons. Activities in CSF of patients with epilepsies, vascular, degenerative and chronical inflammatory cerebral diseases did not differ from normal values. The range of activities found in normal CSF was 0–0,26 IU. The results were discussed. The estimation of adenosine deaminase activity in CSF was commended as an additional diagnostical method in unclear neurological diseases.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Bei 8 Frauen mit Anorexia nervosa wurde die Ausscheidung des Testosterons im Harn untersucht. Sie wurde in 6 Fällen erhöht gefunden. Die 17-Ketosteroide im Harn lagen teilweise im normalen Bereich, teilweise darunter. In einem Fall wurde eine stark erhöhte Aldosteronausscheidung gefunden
Notes: Summary The excretion of testosterone was determined in 8 women with anorexia nervosa, which was elevated in 6 of these patients. Urinary 17-ketosteroid values were in the normal range or below normal. An increased aldosterone excretion was found in one case.
