Zusammenfassung An insgesamt 58 Meerschweinchen wurde mit Hilfe des Formalin-induzierten, elektroplethysmographisch gemessenen Pfotenödems gezeigt, daß Cyclophosphamid (Endoxan®) wahrscheinlich keinen Einfluß auf die akute Entzündung ausübt, während die chronische Entzündung (Modell des Fremdkörpergranuloms) durch Cyclophosphamid signifikant gehemmt wurde. Im Verlauf der akuten Entzündung wurde eine eigentümliche Rhythmik registriert, die als biologisches Phänomen von der Meßfehlerstreuung abgegrenzt werden konnte.

Summary The effect of cyclophosphamide (Endoxan®) on inflammation was investigated in 58 guinea pigs. The acute inflammation was produced by formalin injections into the paws and edema was measured electroplethysmographically. The results show no effects of Endoxan on the acute phase of inflammation, while chronic granulomatous inflammation as produced by foreign body granuloma was significantly inhibited by cyclophosphamide. The development of acute inflammation proceeded rhythmically, which could be separated statistically as a biological phenomenon from recording errors.
