    Description / Table of Contents: Summary Tritiated Peruvosid (Encordin®) was given to 8 patients with severe chronic renal insufficiency and 8 anuric or anephric patients of the chronic dialysis program. Serum level and renal clearance of the cardiac glycoside were compared to the corresponding values of 8 normal human subjects, who received the same dose of H3-Peruvosid. H3-Peruvosid did not show prolonged half-life in the serum (t1/2=60–70 h). The average serum level was slightly but not significantly elevated in anuric patients. The serum level curve of intravenously administered H3-Peruvosid may be described by a fourth order equation involving four exponential terms. The renale clearance of H3-Peruvosid showed a considerable decrease from 100 to 4 ml/min within 48 hours after intravenous injection. The only explanation so far is, that H3-Peruvosid is degraded rapidly to tritiated metabolites which in contrast to the drug itself are reabsorbed by the kidney. The data suggest, that Peruvosid may be at present the most suitable cardiac glycoside for patients with renal failure since it is most likely metabolized soon after application, is excreted mainly by the liver, shows little cumulation in renal failure and has a short lasting pharmacological effect (40% reduction/d).
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Radioaktiv markiertes Peruvosid (Encordin®) wurde 8 Patienten mit fortgeschrittener Niereninsuffizienz und 8 anurischen bzw. anephrischen Dauerdialysepatienten verabreicht. Blutspiegelkurve und renale Clearance des herzwirksamen Glykosides wurden mit den entsprechenden Werten von 8 Normalpersonen verglichen, die die gleiche Dosis von H3-Peruvosid erhielten. Die Serumhalbwertszeit war mit 60–70 Std nicht verlängert im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe. Die Serumkonzentrationen bei den anurischen Patienten lagen im Durchschnitt etwas höher, wenn auch die beobachteten Unterschiede nicht signifikant waren. Die Blutspiegelkurve beider Gruppen verläuft im Sinne einer zusammengesetzten Exponentialfunktion, von der 4 verschiedene Komponenten abgeschält werden können. Bei Patienten mit normaler Nierenfunktion fand sich nach intravenöser Applikation eine bemerkenswerte Abnahme der sog. renalen Peruvosid-Clearance von 100 auf 4 ml/min innerhalb von 48 Std. Die einzige Erklärung für dieses Phänomen ist, daß H3-Peruvosid schnell zu radioaktiv markierten Metaboliten abgebaut wird, die in der Niere im Gegensatz zu Peruvosid selbst rückresorbiert werden. Peruvosid verspricht nach den bisherigen Befunden das zur Zeit geeignetste Herzglykosid bei eingeschränkter Nierenfunktion zu sein, denn es wird wahrscheinlich schnell metabolisiert, hauptsächlich über die Leber ausgeschieden, kumuliert kaum bei gestörter Nierenfunktion und hat eine hohe Abklingquote (40%/Tag).

    Notes: Abstract Recoupling coefficients of the symmetric group are defined from the reduction of irreducible representations of this group to direct product representations of particular subgroups. These recoupling coefficients are analysed and shown to be identical to the invariants of unitary groups arising from the reduction of Kronecker product representations. The recoupling coefficients have applications in configurations of several shells or clusters.

    Notes: Abstract Using general properties of the representations of unitary groups and their relations to representations of symmetric groups, the 3j symbol of the unitary unimodular group ℒU(2) is written in terms of a 9j symbol of the unitary unimodular group ℒU(J) withJ being the sum of the threej's. The result yields the Regge symmetry of the 3j symbol as a consequence of new relations between Wigner coefficients and special invariants of unitary groups on one hand and the association symmetry of the symmetric group on the other.

    Notes: Abstract The Hamiltonian ofn particles moving in a common harmonic oscillator potential has as its symmetry group the unitary groupU(3n) in 3n dimensions,n particle states of the harmonic oscillator shell model can be characterized as bases of irreducible representations (BIR) of the groupU(3n) and of certain subgroups of this group. Use is made of these subgroups for the factorization and calculation of 2, 3, and 4 particle fractional parentage coefficients (fpc) of the harmonic oscillator shell model. Recoupling coefficients for subgroup chains of the symmetric groupS (n) appear as factors in the fpc. These coefficients are analyzed and calculated explicitly. The 2, 3 and 4 particle fpc of the 1s 1p shell configuration are obtained as products of these recoupling coefficients with known reduced Wigner coefficients of the unitary groupU(3) in 3 dimensions. Possible applications are indicated.
