Summary In convalescent sera from 11 out of 15 patients with epidemic keratoconjunctivitis neutralizing and haemagglutination-inhibiting antibodies against adenovirus type 8 were found. In a control group with 30 patients only 3 sera were positive. Thus type 8 was the main causative agent, while four cases were not caused by this virus.

Zusammenfassung 11 von 15 Patienten mit epidemischer Keratoconjunctivitis zeigten nach der Krankheit neutralisierende und hämagglutinationshemmende Antikörper gegen Adenovirus Typ 8. In einer Kontrollgruppe fanden sie sich nur in 3 von 30 Fällen. Danach ist Typ 8 als Haupterreger anzusehen, während 4 Fälle nicht durch diesen Typ bedingt waren.
