Notes: We analyse the problem of radiation of seismic waves by a vibroseis source when the baseplate is subject to flexure. A theoretical model is proposed to account for baseplate flexure, generalizing the well-known model of the vibroseis source of Sallas and Weber, which was developed for a rigid plate. Using the model proposed, we analyse the effect of flexure on the properties of seismic waves. We show that the flexure does not contribute to the far-field and mainly affects the readings of the reference accelerometer that is used to measure the force applied to the ground; these readings generally become dependent on the location of the sensor on the plate. For muddy and sandy soils, the effect of flexure on baseplate-acceleration measurements is nonetheless pronounced at the high end of the vibroseis frequency band only (∼100 Hz), and is negligible at all frequencies for stiffer soils. The corresponding phase lags introduced by the flexural vibrations at high frequencies lead to errors in the traveltime measurements (through the cross-correlation function) of up to 0.6 ms for muddy soils and less for denser soils. We show the existence of an optimal position of the reference sensor on the baseplate and also propose a general method of eliminating the phase lag due to the baseplate flexure in acceleration measurements.

Notes: Summary In dogs, an autografted kidney was reinnervated by anastomosis of the central end of the vagus with the peripheral end of the renal nerve. Glomerular filtration and tubular water reabsorption determined by the inulin method showed no essential difference between the transplanted reinnervated and intact kidneys. There were no significant differences either between the transplanted reinnervated and intact kidneys with respect to phenol red excretion or glucose and sodium isotope tubular reabsorption. Reinnervation from the central end of the vagus improved renal function in the autografted kidney disturbed by transplantation.

Notes: Abstract In the theory of high-frequency storage of a beam in accelerators with a constant magnetic field, it is important to take into account the disturbances of the already stored beam by successive cycles of acceleration. Such a disturbance leads, on the whole, to an increase in the energy spread of the stored particles and to a change of their mean energy. The general formulation of the problem and its solution for some special cases are presented in this article.

Notes: Summary In dogs, one kidney was transplanted into the neck and reinnervated by Shpuga's method; the central and of the sectioned vagosympathetic nerve was joined to the peripheral end of renal nerves, and the change in respiration due to different stimuli was studied. A reflex change occurred when the kidney was stimulated mechanically or by induced current, or when the renal pelvis was dilated by fluid under pressure or irrigated by sodium, potassium, calcium, or magnesium chloride solutions. By this method it was possible to experiment on the kidney interoceptors in chronic preparations.

Notes: Summary A study was made of the effect on diuresis of spasmodic attacks, provoked by various methods. To induce these, substances differing by their chemical nature and pharmacological action were used (camphor, Corazol, Pyramidon), along with electric current. As established, camphor and Corazol lead to a strong prolonged spasmodic attack, since no habituation to these preparations develops. Although Pyramidon is capable of inducing a spasmodic attack of adequate length and strength, it is not very useful in chronic experiments, since habituation to this drug is rather rapid. Spasmodic attacks provoked by electric current passed through the animal's head are somewhat less strong and prolonged in comparison with the convulsion caused by pharmacological agents. Thus, the character of diuretic changes occurring in spasmodic attack does not depend on the agent provoking the convulsions; inhibition of diuresis was observed in all of the experiments. The duration and the depth of this inhibition depended on the strength of convulsive attack and the initial diuresis background.

Notes: Summary Experiments were performed on 3 dogs. As established, the reinnervated kidney transplanted on the neck was capable of compensatory hypertrophy after removal of intact kidney and long-time maintenance of the life of the organism. Dynamics of diuresis, filtration, and water reabsorption in transplanted reinnervated kidney during the process of compensatory hypertrophy is similar to that of compensatory hypertrophy not only of intact, but also of transplanted denervated kidney.
