The crystal structures of NaSi and NaGe have been determined by modern methods. The atomic arrangement of both compounds is quite similar but not strictly isotype (space group C2h6—C 2/c and C2h5—P 21/c, resp.). Si4 and Ge4 tetrahedrals are formed as well as in the corresponding compounds of higher alkali metals1). The arrangement of the alkali metals in respect of the Si and Ge atoms is irregular. Excellent agreement exists between F0 and Fc: NaSi: R=0,07; R′=0,10 (125 reflexes (h 0 l) and (h k 0); NaGe: R=0,08; R′=0,13 (1300 reflexes (h k l)).

Die Kristallstrukturen von NaSi und NaGe wurden mit Hilfe moderner Methoden bestimmt. Beide Verbindungen sind zwar analog aufgebaut, aber nicht streng isotyp (Raumgruppe C2h6—C 2/c bzw. C2h5—P 21/c). Wie in den Verbindungen der höheren Alkalimetalle1) werden auch hier Si4- bzw. Ge4-Tetreader gebildet. Die Umgebung der Si- bzw. Ge-Teilchen mit Alkalimetallatomen ist unregelmäßig.Die Übereinstimmung zwischen berechneten und beobachteten Strukturfaktoren ist gut: NaSi: R=0,07; R′=0,10 für insgesamt 125 Reflexe (h 0 l) und (h k 0); NaGe: R=0,08; R′=0,13 für insgesamt 1300 Reflexe (h k l).
