Description / Table of Contents:
The mechanism of the reaction 3 Ph2BN3 · pyr → 3 N2 + 3 pyr + (PhBNPh)3 was investigated. At 200°C, the reaction is quantitative. Ph2BN3 · pyr has no tendency to split off N2 at 200°C, but by the equilibrium Ph2BN3 · pyr ⇄ Ph2BN3 + pyr, Ph2BN3 is formed, which decomposes at this temperature and thus leads to quantitative decomposition.Intermediate stages are Ph2BN and PhB=NPh. The former one gives with NHMe2 Ph2B—NH—NMe2 which can be isolated; the latter one reacts with PhC≡N—NPh to the fivemembered ring 1,2,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-bora-2,3,5-triaza-cyclopentene-(3).
Notes:
