Notes: Abstract Reactions between6Li and6Li were studied in the laboratory energy range of 2–16 MeV. Angular distributions and excitation functions were measured for various proton, deuteron, triton andα-channels. In addition excitation functions were obtained for five γ-transitions in10B and the ground-state transitions in both7Li and7Be. Detailed statistical model calculations were performed under various assumptions concerning the formation of the compound nucleus. It is concluded that a smooth cutoff of the entrance channel angular momenta yields the only consistent description for both angular distributions and excitation functions. Only a few proton channels are dominated by compound nucleus decay. All other channels reflect the complex structure of6Li which causes a variety of direct reaction modes.

Notes: Abstract Elastic and inelastic scattering in the system7Li+7Li was investigated experimentally in the energy range of Elab=8–17 MeV applying the method of kinematic coincidence. Sizeable cross sections were observed in the whole energy range for inelastic excitation of a single7Li nucleus to its first excited state atE *=0.47761 MeV as well as for mutual excitation of both nuclei. Systematic optical model and both one-step and two-step DWBA calculations were performed with the aim of describing in a consistent manner all three channels studied. This was achieved with optical model potentials fitted simultaneously to all elastic scattering data. They were then used to generate form factors for both single and mutual inelastic scattering as well as distorted waves for DWBA description of inelastic scattering considering the same deformation length for all form factors. Potential parameters derived show, despite these constraints, a continuous ambiguity in case of volume absorption while those with surface absorption can be grouped in six distinct families each of them featuring continuous ambiguities. The impact of real and imaginary form factors on single inelastic excitation is reversed for potentials with volume and surface absorption, while mutual excitation is dominated by imaginary form factors.

Notes: Abstract Angular distributions and excitation functions for the emission of a large number of proton, deuteron, triton, andα-particle groups in7Li+16O reactions have been measured in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier. Within the framework of the statistical reaction model, two approaches are presented that can reproduce the only weakly anisotropic shape of the angular distributions and the absolute cross section for those groups of ejectiles where contributions from direct reaction modes are small. When a standard Woods-Saxon potential deduced from elastic scattering is used, the entrance channel angular momentum distribution must be limited to values below critical angular momental cr which are smaller than the grazing angular momental gr if fusion is to be described. A global proximity potential with a parameter set that has been adjusted to reproduce the fusion reactions of a variety of p- and sd-shell nuclei yields very similar results when applied to7Li+16O. The proximity potential effectively introduces a similar angular-momentum limitation. This analysis proves the existence of a fusion cross section limitation and the importance of strong direct reaction modes (transfer and possibly inelastic processes) in7Li+16O reactions at energies close to and even below the Coulomb barrier. Another aspect of7Li+16O is addressed briefly. The resonance-like structure observed in the heavy-ion radiative capture reaction7Li(16O,γ 0+1)23Na atE x (23Na)=25.4 MeV is not observed in the particle decay channels investigated in the present work.

Notes: Abstract The partition of excitation energy between fragments from reactions of 8 A · MeV116Sn with48Ti was studied. The experimental setup rendered possible the unambiguous identification of primary fragments up to total excitation energies of 50 MeV. Neutron mulitplicities of both projectile-like and target-like fragments were experimentally determined as a function of excitation energy. Comparison of these quantities with the results of numerical calculations of sequential decay including rotation of the fragments allowed the determination of excitation energy partition and the associated fluctuations.

Notes: Abstract Angular distributions for inelastic scattering, for 1 and 2-nucleon transfer reactions were studied at 18.2 MeV/u beam energy. Owing to sequential decay of excited reaction products the nuclide yield measured at various angles and in different regions of total kinetic energy loss (TKEL) does not represent the yield of primordial nuclides A Z. Monte Carlo calculations were applied in order to reconstruct the primary double-differential cross-sections d2σ/dΩdTKEL for values of TKEL up to 80 MeV. By comparing the probability of inelastic scattering and that of transfer reactions it is found that the former dominates for TKEL〈 10 MeV, whereas the situation is reversed above 20 MeV. No evidence is found for the excitation of giant resonances with significant cross section.
