    Notizen: Summary Stiff rod-like chain molecules with harmonic bond length potentials and trigonometric bond angle potentials are used to model Langmuir monolayers at high densities. One end of the rod-like molecules is strongly bound to a flat two-dimensional substrate which represents the air-water interface. A ground-state analysis is performed which suggests phase transitions between phases with and without collective uniform tilt. Large-scale off-lattice Monte Carlo simulations over a wide temperature range show in addition to the tilting transition the presence of a strongly constrained melting transition at high temperatures. The latter transition appears to be related to two-dimensional melting of the head group lattice. These findings show that the model contains both, two- and three-dimensional ergodicity breaking solidification transitions. We discuss our findings with respect to experiment.

    Notizen: Abstract  Mutations causing a visible phenotype in the adult serve as valuable visible genetic markers in multicellular genetic model organisms such as Drosophila melanogaster, Caenorhabditis elegans and Arabidopsis thaliana. In a large scale screen for mutations affecting early development of the zebrafish, we identified a number of mutations that are homozygous viable or semiviable. Here we describe viable mutations which produce visible phenotypes in the adult fish. These predominantly affect the fins and pigmentation, but also the eyes and body length of the adult. A number of dominant mutations caused visible phenotypes in the adult fish. Mutations in three genes, long fin, another long fin and wanda affected fin formation in the adult. Four mutations were found to cause a dominant reduction of the overall body length in the adult. The adult pigment pattern was found to be changed by dominant mutations in wanda, asterix, obelix, leopard, salz and pfeffer. Among the recessive mutations producing visible phenotypes in the homozygous adult, a group of mutations that failed to produce melanin was assayed for tyrosinase activity. Mutations in sandy produced embryos that failed to express tyrosinase activity. These are potentially useful for using tyrosinase as a marker for the generation of transgenic lines of zebrafish.

    Notizen: Abstract The binary decay properties of the47V nucleus, produced in the35Cl +12C reaction, have been investigated at the35Cl bombarding energiesE lab = 180 and 200 MeV by means of a kinematical coincidence technique. Binary reaction products show full energy equilibration and a characteristic 1/sin(θ cm) angular distribution. The elemental distribution of the fully-damped products is asymmetric, similar to what has previously been observed in the decay of the56Ni nucleus. Comparison with theoretical model predictions suggests the occurrence of a fusion-fission rather than orbiting process. Moreover the calculations performed using the Extended Hauser-Feshbach Method reproduce well the experimental fission yields. A general discussion of orbiting and fusionfission experimental data of light heavy-ion systems is presented in the framework of the calculated number of available open channels for these systems.
