Notes: The isothermal and non-isothermal crystallization of isotactic polypropylene coloured with selected organic pigments was examined by differential scanning calorimetry. It was found that the nucleating ability of pigments is connected with their chemical nature and with the reduction of the free energy for critical nucleus formation. The experimental data were analysed in terms of the well known Avrami equation.Blue pigment and Red lake are substances which accelerate the crystallization of isotactic polypropylene, while Orange pigment decreases the crystallization rate slightly.

Notes: Tricyclic CuII and NiII chelates are produced from some 2,2′-bis-(2-hydroxyaryl-azo)-biphenyls and -diphenyl sulphides. From their electron spectra it is concluded that in the Ni complexes of the azo-biphenyl dyestuffs the central atom is coordinated in a different way (probably planar) from that in the corresponding Cu complexes. On the other hand, the valences of both metals in the azo-diphenyl sulphide complexes seem to have the same steric arrangement. This arrangement is probably the same as that of the CuII ion in the azobiphenyl dyestuffs, which could be tetrahedral.

Description / Table of Contents: Mittels IR- und DSC-Messungen wurde die Kristallisation der Komponenten von Polyethylen-Polypropylen-Mischungen verfolgt.
Notes: Using the IR and DSC techniques the crystallization of the components in polyethylene-polypropylene blends was investigated. The results were analyzed in terms of the Avrami equation. The analysis shows that the crystallization rate of PP depends on the PE content and on the temperature of crystallization. Above 122°C PE causes a decrease of the crystallization rate of PP, whereas below 122°C PE accelerates the crystallization of PP. In the ranges of PE content 0 to 50% and 80 to 100% PP causes an increase of the crystallization rate of PE, whereas in the range 50 to 80% PE decreases the rate of crystallization.
