Trimethyl aluminum yields 2:1-complexes with 1,2-dimethoxyethane, 1-dimethylamino-2-methoxyethane, N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine and N,N,N′,N′-tetraethylethyleediamine. The Al atom has in these compounds the coordination number 4. Moreover could be isolated an 1:1-complex with 1-dimethylamino-2-methoxyethane, in which only the nitrogen atom is linked to the aluminum atom.

Aluminiumtrimethyl bildet mit 1,2-Dimethoxyäthan, 1-Dimethylamino-2-methoxyäthan, N,N,N′,N′-Tetramethyläthylenndiamin und N,N,N′,N′-Tetraäthyläthylendiamin 2:1-Komplexe, in denen am Aluminiumatom die Koordinationszahl 4 vorliegt. Darüber hinaus konnte ein 1:1-Addukt mit 1-Dimethylamino-2-methoxyäthan in Substanz isoliert werden, in dem sich nur das Stickstoffatom des Liganden als Haftatom betätigt.
