Summary Romberg's disease or hemifacial atrophy is a well known entity with an etiology which is not yet fully understood. In this disease, involvement of the facial soft and hard tissues such as the skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscles, cartilage and bones may be pronounced. This degenerative process commences during early childhood and ceases following puberty, while its extent is variable. Generally, bony involvement is more prominent whenever the disorder occurs prior to the completion of the facial skeletal growth. This paper describes the correction of hemifacial atrophy using an extended inferior trapezius myocutaneous flap.
