    Notizen: (Al2O3+Ni) and (Al2O3+Ni)/Ni laminated materials were prepared by tape casting and hotpressing sintering. The mechanical properties of (Al2O3+20wt%Ni) laminated composites werehigher than those of (Al2O3+50wt%Ni) composites and Al2O3 sample. The strengthening in the(Al2O3+Ni) composites mainly results from microstructure refinement of the alumina grain size,cracks bridging and crack deflection by the Ni particles. Results showed that the strength andfracture toughness of (Al2O3+Ni)/Ni laminated materials were higher than those of Al2O3/Nilaminated materials with the same layer numbers and thickness ratio. The good mechanicalproperties of (Al2O3+Ni) and (Al2O3+Ni)/Ni laminated materials result from the second phase of Niparticles in Al2O3 layers

    Notizen: For the 1:1 laser projection lithography system used to achieve large-area patterning withhigher resolutions as well as higher throughput, the key parameters such as the laser beamgeometry, the numerical aperture of projection lens, the laser source power and the pulse repetitionrate are theoretically analyzed. It is expounded the process of uniform exposure in hexagonal beamshape, the advantages and limitations of 1:1 projection owing to numerical apertures deciding theresolution, as well as the cause of choosing larger laser power and pulse repetition rate. Meanwhile,the projection lens for a unit-magnification, refractive imaging system is tentatively simulationdesignedusing ZEMAX optical design software. The optimized three-dimensional layout is plotted.For the designed results, the maximum optical path difference is smaller thanλ /4 within entirevisual field. The resolution for feature sizes 10μm can be achieved within depth of focus 400μm byevaluating MTF. The maximum field curvature is within 10μm and the maximum distortion is smallthan 0.000007%. This fulfills the demands in technical specifications

    Notizen: Abstract  The effects of a protein kinase C (PKC) activator, 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA), on the activity and periaqueductal gray (PAG)-induced inhibition of rat dorsal horn neurons of the lumbar spinal cord were tested. A microdialysis fiber was placed through the dorsal horn for the purpose of local application of pharmacological agents. Extracellular single-unit recordings from dorsal horn neurons were made near the microdialysis fiber. TPA was tested on nociceptive dorsal horn cells. There was a significant increase in the background activity and responses to ”brush”, with no changes in responses to pressure and pinch stimuli. TPA also significantly blocked the PAG-induced inhibition of responses to brush, press, and pinch. These effects were eliminated by coadministration of the PKC inhibitor NPC-15437. The solvent, which contained dimethyl sulfoxide, was also tested for its effect on the responses to peripheral mechanical stimuli and PAG-induced inhibition of the dorsal horn neurons. There were no significant changes. This experiment suggests that activation of the PKC second messenger system might increase the activity of dorsal horn neurons and their responses to peripheral stimuli; in addition, the phorbol ester attenuated the PAG-induced descending inhibition of the dorsal horn neuron activity.

    Notizen: Abstract Bacterial ferritin from Azotobacter vinelandii (AvBFo has a function in H2 uptake. The Fe3+ reduction on the surface of the iron core from AvBFo is accompanied simultaneously by H2 uptake, with a maximum activity of H2 uptake of 450 H2/AvBFo. A reduction potential of −402 mV for iron reduction on the surface of the core is found. A shift to the red the protein absorbance peaks ranging from 280 to 290 nm is observed between pH5 and 9 under 100% H2 reduction. The reduction potential for iron release becomes negative at a rate of 0.025 mV/Fe2+ released. The kinetics of iron release on the surface of the core is a first-order reaction.

    Notizen: Abstract The kinetics for complete iron release showing biphasic behavior from pig spleen ferritin-Fe (PSFF) was measured by spectrophotometry. The native core within the PSFF shell consisted of 1682 hydroxide Fe3+ and 13 phosphate molecules. Inhibition kinetics for complete iron release was measure by differential spectrophotometry in the presence of phosphate; the process was clearly divided into two phases involving a first-order reaction at an increasing rate of 46.5 Fe3+/PSFF/min on the surface of the iron core and a zero-order reaction at a decreasing rate of 6.67 Fe3+/PSFF/min inside the core. The kinetic equation [C(PSFF-Fe3+)max − C(PSFF-Fe3+) t ]1/2 = T max −T t gives the transition time between the two rates and represents the complex kinetic characteristics. The rate was directly accelerated twofold by a mixed reducer of dithionite and ascorbic acid. These results suggest that the channel of the PSFF shell may carry out multiple functions for iron metabolism and storage and that the phosphate strongly affects the rate of iron release.

    Notizen: Abstract Type one serine/threonine protein phosphatases (PP1s) have been implicated in various processes of plant growth and development. In all plant species studied, PP1s are encoded by multigene families. Previous studies in our laboratory identified five Arabidopsis thaliana PP1 genes (TOPP1, TOPP2, TOPP3, TOPP4 and TOPP5). In the present study, we report the isolation of three additional PP1 genes (TOPP6, TOPP7 and TOPP8). Southern blot analyses indicate that these three newly isolated genes are single-copy genes in A. thaliana genome. All the three genes are expressed in roots, rosettes and flowers, although their expression levels appear to be lower than those of the five previously identified TOPP genes. Six of the eight TOPP genes were mapped to different positions on four of five A. thaliana chromosomes. Sequence comparison revealed that TOPP genes belong to different subgroups of plant PP1 genes, suggesting that they may encode proteins with distinct functions.

    Notizen: Alternating copolymers of vinyl acetate (VAC) and acrylic acid (AA) were obtained by free radical polymerization in the presence of GeCl4 and BCl3. For the GeCl4 system, the reaction rate was proportional to [initiator]1/2. Optimum rate was obtained when the molar ratio of the monomers was 1:1. The chain transfer agent CCl4 had no effect on the reaction. By means of ultra-violet spectra analysis, it was concluded that both VAC and AA formed complexes with GeCl4. ESR analysis gave us the information that salt complexed acrylic acid radical had greater cationic characteristics than uncomplexed radical. Thus the nature of alternation may be due to both complexed AA radical and activated monomer complexes.
