    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Ein einfaches Verfahren zur Bestimmung von Wasser in organischen Lösungsmitteln und allgemein für die Analyse binärer, flüssiger Gemische unter Verwendung solvatochromer Fluorescenzfarbstoffe wird beschrieben, das auch bei nur wenig transparenten Proben angewendet werden kann. Die Analyse läßt sich ohne Spektrometer, mit einer einfachen Anordnung optischer Filter ausführen.
    Notes: Summary A simple procedure for the determination of water in organic solvents and more generally of the composition of binary liquid mixtures by use of solvatochromic fluorescent dyes is described even for samples with low transparency. The procedure can be carried out without any spectrometer using only an array of optical filters.

Das Analysenverfahren läßt sich dadurch wesentlich vereinfachen. Bei Verwendung des mit der Dichte korrigierten Brechungsindex ist eine analoge Linearisierung möglich. Die letztere Methode ist besonders dann als Komplementärverfahren einsetzbar, wenn die Dichten beider Komponenten ähnlich sind.
    Notes: Summary The non-linear calibrating plots which are necessary for the analysis of binary liquid mixtures by use of the density are linearized by a two-parameter equation (r〉0.9998, N=30 ... 70). With the index of refraction, corrigated by density, an analogous linearization is possible. The latter gives a complementary method when the densities of both components are similar.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Dank ihrer extrem hohen Photostabilität und hohen Fluorescenzquantenausbeute erwiesen sich die Perylenfarbstoffe als ideal für Markierungen bei sehr kleinen Konzentrationen und hohen Anregungsintensitäten. In fester Matrix wird bei 10 K eine Nachweisempfindlichkeit von 1 Farbstoffmolekül in 1014 Solvensmolekülen erreicht (4·10−18 mol). Durch eine Eichung mit den Raman-Linien der verwendeten Matrices läßt sich bei dieser Verdünnung eine Analysengenauigkeit von 5–10% erreichen. Durch Abwandlung der Perylenfarbstoffe sind Markierungen in wäßriger und organischer Phase möglich. Anwendungen in der Biochemie werden aufgezeigt.
    Notes: Summary Due to their high photostability and fluorescence quantum yield perylene dyes prove to be ideal labels for fluorescence measurements at extremely low concentrations and high excitation intensities. In solid solutions at 10 K a detection sensitivity of up to 1 dye molecule in 1014 solvent molecules (4 · 10−18 mol) is reached. Calibration with the Raman emission of the used matrix rises the precision of the analysis to 5–10% at this dilution. Modification of the perylene dyes allows labelling in aqueous and organic phases. Applications in biochemistry are discussed.

    Notes: Summary A new procedure for the determination of water (even in trace amounts) in organic solvents is described. The solvatochromism of the pyridiniumphenol betaine, E T30, determined by a simple UV-absorption measurement, together with a two-parameter equation, permits an exact determination. The procedure is rapid and is, therefore, an alternative to the Karl-Fischer titration.
