Notes: About the 1-Camphenyl System - 1-Camphenyl Compounds of Lithium, Tin and Mercury1-Camphenyl lithium, 1-camphenyl isobutyl mercury an 1-camphenyl triethyl tin were synthesized and characterized by their 13C n.m.r. spectra. The lithium compound contains σ,η1-bonded allyl groups and suggests a weak interaction between the exocyclic double bonds and the metal atoms. The coupling constants 1J(199Hg-13Ci-C4H9) and 1J(119Sn-13CC2H5) in the spectra of the mercury and the tin compound allow to compare the donor strength of 1-camphenyl anion with those of other carbanions.

Description / Table of Contents: 1,4-dioxane, N-methylmorpholine and N, N′-dimethylpiperazine react with two molecules of trimethylaluminum yielding crystalline 1:2-complexes. From the same components also defined 1:1-complexes can be obtained. The coordination conditions within these compounds are investigated and discussed. The reaction of 2,2′-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthrolin with trimethylaluminum gives only 1:1-complexes in which the aluminum atom very probably has the coordination number „5“.

Description / Table of Contents: Tetramethyltitanium forms with pyridine, trimethylamine and trimethylphosphine yellow or red 1:1 and 1:2 donor-acceptor complexes. All these compounds are very sensitive to heat treatment but more stable than pure tetramethyltitanium. The nature of the bonding between tetramethyltitanium and the ligand molecules is discussed.

Description / Table of Contents: Tungsten hexachloride reacts with dimethyl zinc or diphenyl zinc forming green methyl or phenyl tungsten pentachloride. However, tungsten hexachloride is reduced to tungsten tetrachloride on addition of zinc dialkyls with longer alkyl groups. Furthermore, alkyl tungsten pentachlorides can be prepared from tungsten hexachloride and tin tetraalkyls or boron trialkyls.
Notes: Wolfram(VI)-chlorid reagiert mit Zinkdimethyl bzw. -diphenyl zu grünem Methylwolframpentachlorid bzw. Phenylwolframpentachlorid.

Description / Table of Contents: Alkyl zirconium trihalides can be prepared from zirconium tetrachloride or tetrabromide and zinc dialkyls in toluene as a solvent. Using pyridine, dialkyl zirconium dihalides are formed. Some of these new organozirconium compounds are isolated and characterised in form of complexes with bipyridyl.

Description / Table of Contents: It is reported on reactions of molybdenum pentachloride and molybdenum tetrachloride with zinc dialkyls and tin tetraalkyls. Methyl molybdenum trichloride was obtained in form of a complex with diethyl ether of the formula CH3MoCl3 · O(C2H5)2.

Description / Table of Contents: On the Chemistry of Transition Metal Alkyl Compounds. XI. Preparation and Properties of Lithium Alkylo Titanates(IV)Tetramethyl titanium and other titanium compounds react with organolithium compounds forming complexes which can be isolated in form of crystalline, coloured adducts in presence of mono or bidentate oxygen or nitrogen containing ligands. On account of the experimental results these compounds may be considered as ionic alkylo titanates(IV).

Description / Table of Contents: Contributions to the Chemistry of Transition Metal Alkyl Compounds. XVIII. On the Preparation and Properties of Tetrabenzyl Vanadium and Benzyl Tantalum ChloridesPure tetrabenzyl vanadium was isolated and characterized by elementary analyses, EPR and 1H-NMR spectra, by hydrolysis and thermal decomposition.  -  Experiments for the preparation of tetra or pentabenzyl compounds of niobium and tantalum failed, but we could prepare C6H5CH2TaCl4, (C6H5CH2)2TaCl3, and (C6H5CH2)3TaCl2, the last two in form of bipyridyl complexes.
