Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung 1.
Notes: Summary 1. Substance P-extract from brain (4150 u/mg protein) and the physalaemin-like peptide Pro-Asp(NH2)-Lys-Phe-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Eti-NH2 contract the gall bladder and stimulate pancreatic secretion in the dog. Hepatic bile flow remains constant or is decreased. The activity of the substance P-extract is destroyed by incubation with chymotrypsin. 2. Crude substance P-extract from the intestine (22 u/mg protein) is much more effective than brain extract, probably because of its additional content of secretin and/or cholecystokinin. 3. In these actions, as in others, a close similarity between substance P and physalaemin derivatives is evident.
