    Notes: Die nachfolgend abgeleiteten Formeln für den Druckverlust sind von größter Allgemeingültigkeit und lassen sich nicht nur auf alle möglichen Füllkörperformen und -größen, sondern auch auf die verschiedensten Füllkörper- und Schüttgutgemenge übertragen. Die meisten der in der Praxis auftretenden Fälle lassen sich in zwei große Gruppen, und zwar in Säulen mit abgerundeten und mit scharfkantigen Füllkörpern einordnen, für die sich annähernd die gleichen Widerstandsbeiwerte ergeben. Eine Berechnung der Druckverluste ist auch im Falle der Berieselung mit ausreichender Genauigkeit möglich.

    Notes: In Analogie zu den Destillations- bzw. Dampflinien der einfachen Destillation werden Rektifikations- bzw. Destillatlinien definiert, welche die Änderung der Zusammensetzung des Destillationsrückstandes (Blaseninhalts) bzw. des Destillats während der Rektifikation homogener Dreistoffgemische angeben. Die Diskussion der Differentialgleichung der Rektifikationslinien für die Umgebung der Eckpunkte des Darstellungsdreiecks und der binären azeotropen Punkte erlaubt die Aufstellung allgemeiner Gesetze, denen die Rektifikationslinienscharen gehorchen. Auf diese Weise läßt sich aus dem Destillationslinienfeld der Charakter des zugehörigen Rektifikationslinienfeldes für ein gegebenes Rücklaufverhältnis und eine gegebene Bodenzahl ableiten. Mit den Rektifikationsdiagrammen lassen sich alle Experimente deuten, die mit wirksamen Kolonnen an z. T. komplizierten Dreistoffgemischen durchgeführt worden sind. Das zeitweilige Sinken der Siedetemperatur des Destillats und andere Erscheinungen, für die es kein Analogon bei Zweistoffgemischen gibt, werden im Rahmen der vorliegenden Theorie verständlich. Eigene Rektifikationsversuche an dem System Methanol-Aceton-Chloroform bestätigen die Richtigkeit der behaupteten Zusammenhänge.

    Notes: In neuerer Zeit sind mit Dampfstrahlern betriebene Vakuumkühlanlagen vielfach an die Stellen von Kompressionskältemaschinen getreten. Der Einfachheit im Bau und Betrieb solcher Anlagen steht der schlechte Wirkungsgrad der Dampfstrahlgebläse gegenüber. Erkenntnisse aus theoretischen und praktischen Untersuchungen an Strahlern(1)(2)(3)(4) haben zu wesentlichen Leistungssteigerungen geführt. Darüber hinaus wurden durch weitere systematische Versuche der Duisburger Kupferhütte, die am 1. November 1951 auf ein 75jähriges Bestehen zurückblickte, Verbesserungen erzielt, die einen wirtschaftlichen Einsatz von Vakuumanlagen für tiefere Endtemperaturen gestatten.

    Notes: An Hand einer größeren Anzahl von Einzeluntersuchungen der Carbid-Ausbeute wird der Streubereich und der häufigste Wert der Ausbeute für zwei verschiedene Körnungen angegeben. Vergleichsversuche der Carbid-Prüfung nach Caro und nach einem neu entwickelten Mikroprüfungsverfahren zeigen, daß die Ergebnisse der Mikroprüfung mit dem häufigsten Wert der Ausbeute nach Caro übereinstimmten. Das wesentlich einfachere Verfahren der Mikroprüfung ist also für die Abnahme im praktischen Betrieb geeignet.

    Notes: Es wird eine elektrodialytische Zelle beschrieben, mit deren Hilfe es gelang, die Leitfähigkeit einer dauernd betriebsmäßig benutzten, glycerin-haltigen Kühlflüssigkeit von 5 auf 1 · 10-4Ω-1cm-1 herabzusetzen. Dabei wurden erstmalig Abachi-Fourniere als Diaphragma benutzt. Neu ist auch die Verwendung eines Zinkoxyd-Diaphragmas zur Beseitigung und Vermeidung der sauren Reaktion der zu reinigenden Lösung sowie der Aufbau der Zelle aus gummierten Eisenschalen und die Verwendung von sehr wenig Platin bei der Herstellung der Anode.

    Notes: Am Beispiel eines Essigsäure-Wasser-Gemisches wird gezeigt, daß sich die Wirksamkeit von Füllkörpern steigern läßt, wenn man poröse Stoffe benutzt, die die Zusammensetzung des Rücklaufs durch spezifische Adsorption vorteilhaft verändern. Ungleich dem Vorgang bei der chromatographischen Analyse fließt die adsorbierte Schicht offenbar bei Füllkörpern von gemäßigtem Adsorptionsvermögen, dem Einfluß der Schwere folgend, ständig nach abwärts. Durch Ausnutzung des Adsorptionseffektes könnten Füllkörpersäulen zur Rektifikation wesentlich niedriger als üblich gebaut werden.

    Notes: Es ist gelungen, die verfahrenstechnischen Funktionen der bisher diskontinuierlich arbeitenden Apparaturen, wie z. B. Mischer, Kneter, Zerfaserer, Walzwerke, Kollergänge, hydraulischen Pressen usw. auf spezielle Schneckenvorrichtungen zu übertragen, wobei diese Schnecken sogar eine wie auch mehrere derartige Funktionen gleichzeitig in sich vereinigen. Dadurch konnte eine Reihe von diskontinuierlichen Verfahren unter erheblicher Einsparung an Energie und sonstigen Kosten kontinuierlich gestaltet werden. Die Arbeitsweise verfahrenstechnischer Apparate läßt sich durch die Einführung statistischer Funktionen, deren Maßzahl der sogenannte Gütegrad ist, kennzeichnen; Schneckenvorrichtungen weisen besonders hohe Gütegrade auf.
