Description / Table of Contents: Summary The condensation of dehydroascorbic acid with o-phenylene diamine or its 4,5-dimethyl derivative yields quinoxaline derivatives which can be measured by photometry. Ascorbic acid can be determined after preliminary oxidation with mercury(II) chloride in the same way. This highly specific method has been employed for determinations in pharmaceutical formulations (coefficient of variation ± 1–1.5%).

Notes: Zusammenfassung Die Kondensation von Dehydroascorbinsäure mit o-Phenylendiamin oder 4,5-Dimethyl-o-phenylendiamin führt zur Bildung von spektrophotometrisch auswertbaren Chinoxalinderivaten. Ascorbinsäure kann nach vorangehender Oxidation mit Quecksilberchlorid auf die gleiche Weise bestimmt werden. Die Methode wurde zu Bestimmungen in pharmazeutischen Präparaten verwendet (Variationskoeffizient ± 1–1,5%).

Notes: Es wird gezeigt, daß zwischen starken und schwachen Inhibitoren kein grundsätzlicher, sondern nur ein gradueller Unterschied besteht. Ihrer Wirkung nach lassen sich die Inhibitoren und damit auch die Regler in 4 Klassen einteilen, je nachdem, ob sie in den Primärakt, oder den Kettenabbruch, oder in beide Teilreaktionen zugleich eingreifen. Bei der Einwirkung auf den Primärakt ist eine Hemmung oder Beschleunigung zu unterscheiden.Durch gleichzeitige Messung der Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und des Polymerisationsgrades kann man für jeden Inhibitor leicht entscheiden, welcher Klasse er angehört, und seine charakteristischen Reaktionskonstanten bestimmen.

Notes: Es wird ein neues Verfahren zur Darstellung hochgliedriger Lactonringe beschrieben, das auch im Ringbildungsminimum hohe Ausbeuten liefert. Es beruht auf der Umsetzung von ω-Halogen-fettsäuren mit Kaliumcarbonat in hochverdünnten Lösungen. Ein einfacher und sicher arbeitender Cyclisationsapparat wild angegeben. Ferner werden einige hochgliedrige Ketolactone bzw. Oxylactone und ein Isoambrettolid dargestellt. Die Ketolactone sind durch Cyclisation von ω-Halogen-ketosäuren erhalten worden, die ihrerseits durch Kondensation der hier erstmals beschriebenen zinkorganischen Verbindungen der ω-Jod-fettsäureester mit ω-Halogen-fettsäurechloriden dargestellt wurden. Das Isoambrettolid ist aus einem Ketolacton durch Reduktion der Ketogruppe zur Oxygruppe und auschließende Wasserabspaltung gewonnen worden. Die Eigenschaften der Präparate werden, soweit diese schon bekannt, mit den Literaturangaben verglichen. Hierbei ergeben sich Abweichungen.

Notes: Die Polymerisation des Styrols bei Zusatz von Chinon wird reaktions-kinetisch verfolgt, wobei gleichzeitig der Polymerisationsgrad der entstehenden Polymeren gemessen wird. Es ergibt sich, daß das Chinon sowohl den Kettenstart als auch den Kettenabbruch beschleunigt, also zu den Kompensationsinhibitoren gehört. Hieraus erklärt es sich auch, daß man mit Hilfe der Inhibitormethode nicht die Länge der Reaktionsketten bestimmen kann wie es H. G. Foord versuchte. Eine Anzahl von Reaktionen wird besprochen, durch welche Chinon auf Polymerisationsprozesse einwirken kann.

Notes: Aus dem Autoxydationsverhalten der Ricinensäure- und Eläostearinsäureester war auf das Vorhandensein zwischenmolekular wirksamer Kräfte an konjugierten Doppelbindungs-Systemen geschlossen worden. Die Viscositätskurven den Eläostearinsäuremethylesters in Cyclohexan bestätigten diese Schlußfolgerung.Durch Behandlung mit molekularem Sauerstoff in verdünnter Methanollösung in Gegenwart von Mineralsäuren wurde der Ester in den Methyläther eines 1.4-Lactols (2-Oxy-dihydrofurans) über-geführt. Das Autoxydationsprodukt zeigt also Oxo-cyclo-tautomerie; die Lactolform wird durch Verätherung stabilisiert.

Notes: Die in den ersten drei Mitteilungen beschriebenen Versuche wurden in der Weise fortgesetzt, daß an Stelle aliphatischer Aldehyde als Vertreter der aromatischen Reihe Benzaldehyd verwendet wurde. Von den drei isomeren α-Nitrobenzoyl-Derivaten des β-Benzyliden-phenyl-hydrazins war das 2-Nitro-benzoyl-Derivat nur in der Wärme (in siedendem Pyridin) darstellbar. Bei den Reduktionsversuchen erwies sich der Verlauf der sich dabei abspielenden Reaktionen von der Stärke der zur Wasserstoffentwicklung verwendeten Säure abhängig. Bei Verwendung von Eisessig in alkoholischer Lösung (mit Zinkstaub) konnten die zunächst dargestellten Benzylidenamino-benzanilide bis zu 60% in Benzylamino-benzanilide übergeführt werden, während in verdünnter Schwefelsäure die Hauptmengen (95%) hydrolytisch in Benzaldehyd und Aminobenzanilid gespalten wurden.Bei den entsprechenden Reduktionsversuchen mit β-Benzyliden-α-nitrobenzoyl-phenylhydrazin wurde bei Verwendung von Essigsäure die Bildung von Benzylaminobenzanilid, Aminobenzanilid, Benzylamin und Ammoniak nachgewiesen. Dagegen bildete sich in Schwefelsäure nur bei dem 4-Nitro-benzoyl-Derivat eine geringe Menge 4-Benzylamino-benzanilid neben den übrigen Reduktionsprodukten.Die Vorgänge verlaufen in zwei verschiedenen Reaktionsfolgen, die sich im einzelnen feststellen ließen Während bei dem so ist üblichen Verfahren der Einwirkung von Benzylchlorid auf Amine ein schwer trennbares Gemisch von Primären, sekundären und tertiären Aminen entsteht, lassen sich durch tropfenweisen Zusatz von Benzaldehyd zu einem siedenden Gemisch von Nitroverbindung mit Zinkstaub und Essigsäure ungemischte Benzylamine in guter Ausbeute erhalten. Zur Sicherstellung der Konstitution der drei isomeren Benzylaminobenzanilide wurde deren Verseifung durch Erhitzen mit rauchender Salzsäure im Bombenrohr durchgeführt.

Notes: Als Nebenprodukt bei der Darstellung von N.N′-Acrylsäureester-indigo aus Dehydroindigo und Acrylsäuremethylester fällt der schwerer lösliche N.N′-Vinylen-indigo an. Dieser kann auch synthetisiert werden bei Ersatz des Acrylesters durch Propiolsäureester, wobei Kohlenoxyd auftritt. Oxydation mit Salpetersäure in Eisessig führt den Vinylenindigo in N.N′-Oxalyl-indigo über; beim Kochen mit Eisessig allein entsteht unter Abspaltung der Vinylenbrücke Indigo und Dehydroindigoacetat.
