Notes: Abstract. Within the Nuclear Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model of light nuclei (the NNJL model), describing strong low-energy nuclear interactions, we compute the width of the energy level of the ground state of pionic deuterium. The theoretical value fits well the experimental data. Using the cross-sections for the reactions νe + d → p + p + e- and νe + d → p + n + νe, computed in the NNJL model, and the experimental values of the events of these reactions, detected by the SNO Collaboration, we compute the boron neutrino fluxes. The theoretical values agree well with the experimental data and the theoretical predictions within the Standard Solar Model by Bahcall. We argue the applicability of the constraints on the astrophysical factor for the solar proton burning, imposed by helioseismology, to the width of the energy level of the ground state of pionic deuterium. We show that the experimental data on the width satisfy these constraints. This testifies an indirect measurement of the recommended value of the astrophysical factor for the solar proton burning in terrestrial laboratories in terms of the width of the energy level of the ground state of pionic deuterium.

Notes: Abstract. We study kaonic deuterium, the bound K-d state AK d. Within a quantum field-theoretic and relativistic covariant approach we derive the energy level displacement of the ground state of kaonic deuterium in terms of the amplitude of K-d scattering for arbitrary relative momenta. Near threshold our formula reduces to the well-known DGBT formula. The S-wave amplitude of K-d scattering near threshold is defined by the resonances Λ(1405), Σ(1750) and a smooth elastic background, and the inelastic channels K-d → NY and K-d → NYπ, where Y = Σ±,Σ{0} and Λ{0}, where the final-state interactions play an important role. The Ericson-Weise formula for the S-wave scattering length of K-d scattering is derived. The total width of the energy level of the ground state of kaonic deuterium is estimated using the theoretical predictions of the partial widths of the two-body decays AKd → NY and experimental data on the rates of the NY pair production in the reactions K-d → NY. We obtain Γ{1s} = (630±100)eV. For the shift of the energy level of the ground state of kaonic deuterium we predict ε{1s} = (325±60)eV.

Notes: In Wissenschaft und Technik haben sich seit fast 50 Jahren Ionenaustauscher auf Grund ihrer selektiven Eigenschaften zur Isolierung, Anreicherung und Gewinnung von Substanzen sowie zur Feinreinigung von Lösungen bewährt. Ihre Selektivität kann einmal durch Abwandlung der Arbeitsbedingungen, zum andern durch Variation des Austauschers selbst der speziellen Aufgabe angepaßt werden. Es wird eine Übersicht über Auftrennung von Ionen, Molekularelektrolyten von Kolloiden, Elektrolyten und Nichtelektrolyten beschrieben. Von den neueren Arbeitsmethoden seien genannt der „Kontaktaustausch“, das „Elektrolyt-Vorlaufverfahren“ und die „maßgerechten“ Austauscher. Letztere scheinen eine neue Möglichkeit zur Lösung von Sonderproblemen zu bieten, wie sie die Medizin und Biologie häufig aufwerfen.

Notes: Der Kohlenhydratabbau im Zuge der Atmung weist bei tierischen und pflanzlichen Geweben keine prinzipiellen Unterschiede auf. Sehr wahrscheinlich besteht die Photosynthese der grünen Pflanzen im wesentlichen in einer Umkehrung der Atmungsvorgänge. Der notwendige Wasserstoff in Form hydrierter Cofermente und energiereiches Phosphat werden durch die Photolyse des Wassers und dadurch mögliche Folgereaktionen zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Quantenausbeute bei der Photosynthese und der von O. Warburg entdeckte 1-Quanteneffekt werden auf der Basis dieser Vorstellungen diskutiert.

Notes: Es werden Synthesen von Hochpolymeren mit Wirkungsgruppen aus der Hämin- und Chlorophyll-Reihe und ihre optischen Eigenschaften besprochen. Die Verschiebungen der Bandenmaxima und die Veränderung der Säuredissoziationskonstanten der Wirkungsgruppen werden diskutiert. Dies berührt die Frage der Existenz von Einschlußverbindungen in Lösung. Durch Anwendung des Massenwirkungsgesetzes auf mehrere, bereits bekannte Einschlußsysteme ergab sich das Vorliegen echter Verbindungen in Lösung. Prototropiegleichgewichte führten zur Ermittlung der Säuredissoziationskonstanten einiger Farbstoffe und deren Cyclodextrin-Einschlußverbindungen. Das System Serumalbumin/Methylorange und hochmolekulare Verbindungen mit Wirkungsgruppen aus der Hämin- und Chlorophyll-Reihe zeigen Ähnlichkeit mit echten Einschlußverbindungen in Lösung, so daß man geneigt ist, den betr. Hochpolymeren Einschlußbezirke zuzuweisen. Ferner werden Synthesen von mit Wirkungsgruppen substituierten D-, L- und D, L-Formen von Polyphenylalaninen, ihre optischen und katalytischen Eigenschaften sowie erste Versuche zur Synthese von Cytochrom-C-Modellen behandelt.

Notes: Bei der chromatographischen Adsorption von Kupferchlorid an Aluminiumoxyd mit einem Gehalt an Erdalkali in gegen Farbstoffe nicht austauschfähiger Form findet eine Umsetzung statt, wodurch auch bei extremem Waschen mit Wasser das Kupfer auf der Säule fixiert bleibt. Unabhängig hiervon beobachtet man als primären Vorgang eine physikalische bzw. chemische Adsorption.

Notes: Eine Trennung der Seltenen Erden durch Verteilen läßt sich unter Verwendung verschiedener Erdverbindungen und zahlreicher Lösungsmittel prinzipiell verwirklichen. Aber nur wenige dieser Stoffsysteme sind für die präparative Praxis brauchbar. Es werden die Grundlagen des Verfahrens, eine geeignete Apparatur und einige Beispiele präparativer Trennungen beschrieben. Der Trenneffekt eines Einzelschrittes erreicht bei der Verteilung die gleiche Größenordnung wie bei den Verfahren der fraktionierten Kristallisation. Diesen ist die Verteilung aber überlegen wegen ihres geringeren Zeit- und Arbeitsaufwandes.

Es schien daher zweckmäßig, sie zu sichten, günstig Erscheinendes zu kombinieren und so ein Verfahren zu entwickeln, das den Anforderungen der Praxis entspricht. Es wird gezeigt, wie sich sehr kleine Schwefel-Mengen genau und rasch durch elektrolytisch-potentiometrische Titration der Schwefelsäure bestimmen lassen. Diese erhält man durch Einleiten des Schwefeldioxyds, welches beim Verbrennen Schwefel-haltiger Substanzen im Sauerstoff-Strom entsteht, in verdünntes Wasserstoffperoxyd. Ist keine direkte Verbrennung möglich, so wird die Substanz aufgeschlossen, das Sulfat unter speziellen Bedingungen als Bariumsulfat gefällt und dann verbrannt. Beispiele zeigen die Genauigkeit des Verfahrens, welches auch für Makromengen geeignet ist.

Notes: Die Verwendung isotopenmarkierter Bausteine hat den Weg der Biosynthese des Hämins in den wesentlichen Zügen aufgedeckt. Dieser Weg zweigt über die Succinyl-Verbindung des Co-Enzym A aus dem Tricarbonsäure-Cyclus ab. δ-Aminolävulinsäure, sehr wahrscheinlich Porphobilinogen und Uroporphyrin bilden weitere Zwischenstufen der Synthese. Die gesamte Synthese läßt sich in vitro in Vogelbluthämolysaten reproduzieren, die demnach sämtliche für die einzelnen Syntheseschritte notwendigen Fermentkomponenten enthalten. Die bevorzugte Entstehung der Isomerenreihe III wird erörtert.

Notes: Lipopolysaccharide gramnegativer Bakterien sind Träger verschiedener charakteristischer biologischer Wirkungen. Ihre chemische Erforschung ist daher von erheblichem, u. a. auch praktisch-klinischem Interesse. Es wird über Verfahren zur Isolierung und Reindarstellung der Lipopolysaccharide sowie Methoden zu ihrer Spaltung in einzelne Komponenten berichtet. Ergebnisse der qualitativen und quantitativen Bausteinanalyse der Polysaccharid- und Lipoid-Komponenten und Untersuchungen über den Zusammenhang zwischen dem chemischen Bau und der biologischen Funktion einzelner Komponenten werden diskutiert.
