Description / Table of Contents: Metaltrifluorophosphine Complexes, XXXIITetrakis(trifluorophosphine)iron DihydrideH2Fe(PF3)4 (1) is obtained from Fe(PF3)5 by photochemical PF3/H2 exchange reaction. 1 is a volatile colorless liquid and shows an extraordinary thermal stability and remarkable resistance against O2. Its physical properties are similar to those of the analogous hydrido complexes of ruthenium and osmium. Reactions with tert-butoxides yield the salts M[HFe(PF3)4] and M2[Fe(PF3)4] (M == alkali metal). U. v. irradiation in the presence of conjugated dienes, halogens, and Lewis bases results in the substitution of PF3 and H ligands.
